Christ but I haven't updated this baby in forever have I.
Well lets see...
After being something of a recluse with all the totally fucked up weather we had a while ago I finally dragged my sorry carcass along to Electrode on saturday night. We went along to The Viper Club and found the place all closed up after reports of police raids and general dodgeyness. The show had been moved to Club Ibiza just up the road so we trudged along and to our total surprise the venue was great! After feeling like a bit of a shady character just for venturing into such a ben of iniquity we climbed the stairs to the third floor and were blown away by the fact that the club didn't suck. The lighting was fab, the seating was good (not that we used the seating much at all) and the dancefloor was nicely partitioned from the bar. The music was excellent and the place was arockin'. Caught up with the_magdalene and creepingfeature which is always a pleasure, and the lovely tamora_nz and the well dressed no_youre_not which was a bit of a surprise. Finally got to chat with tonykmfdm_net too which was cool. Lots of dancers which was cool to see (most of which were male which is a change), and danced the dance of the completely mad for a while and then went home on a high (beat induced high that is). I might have to go along next month.
Sunday ms_spider_web and I got up sinfully early and went and had coffee in the back garden of Baretta which would have been lovely if the place hadn't been for the multitudes of middle aged housewives talking about their BMWs and seething masses of offspring. Went into town and did some cd shopping with tonykmfdm_net before decamping back to our place for beer and beats.
Monday being a public holiday we actually did something my father would have approved of (shock horror) by driving out to Papakura to perv at fast cars before the beginning of the NZ Targa Rally. i can't help but appreciate cars from a design point of view, the hilights included Porches, Camaros, Thunderbirds, Ferraris, and a beautiful Lotus Elise. Did I mention the noise!? *DROOL* True rhythmic noise at its best!
Went home and made plans to catch up with bitchyblondebat and medusa5 for imported beers at the Belgiun Beer Bar in Mission Bay but the traffic was absolutely diabolical so we thought better of it and went and had a beer on DUM DUM DUUUUM the shore! Then we ended the day by going to the Chocolate Boutique in Parnell for sinfully chocolatey goodness.
And tonight Diamanda! I'm surprisingly nervous about this as I've been asked backstage to meet Diamanda Galas after the gig. even just thinking about it makes me all aquiver (me a fanboy? never). I'm so looking forward to this show!
Also get to see chameleonnz after his sojourn to Japan which I'm really looking forward to. It'll be nice to have him stay, even if it is just overnight.
Right, I've just had an obscenely large box of cds and mags arrive from GUP. Terrorfakt, Iszoloscope, Ikon, Birthday Massacre, Converter and more. Will do a rundown tomorrow if I can be arsed.
