I Can Change.

I can!

It's been, um, an interesting weekend on a variety of fronts. Too much to go into, really and I'm still kind of sorting my mind out a bit in some ways BUT one great thing is that last night I went to see LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip play at the Magna Centre in Rotherham. It was ace, although I was surprised that LCD played first, I would have expected it to be the other way around (and preferred it - let's face it, Hot Chip are cool and all, but LCD Soundsystem kick their ass). Much fun was had by all, and when James Murphy played "All My Friends" I could have died and gone to heaven right there. That song absolutely nails me. Every time. The evening was slightly spoilt by Dave saying something stupid and twattish to Nicky - which he claimed today to have no memory of saying, which wouldn't surprise me given what we'd all imbibed - which upset her at the end of the night, which was a shame. But I got to see Avril for the first time in ages, and even Alison turned up, which was great! Other than that small incident, I was in a wonderfully good mood last night, stupidly happy to be with such brilliant people at such a brilliant event. Even though it took us ages to get a taxi in the rain afterwards.

Today Dave and I - after seeing off his friend Bex who stayed with us last night, and who told me I was "funnier" than the previous flatmate Dave had, and that I "knew all the good stuff" about music after we talked about Tilly & The Wall (omg so indie) - wandered slowly and carefully into town, so as not to damage our fragile minds and bodies, and bought a board game! It is called WAR ON TERROR and it's a kind of comedy version of something like Risk but where you can also play as a terrorist. It comes with a free "Evil Balaclava", and options such as "Suicide Bomber Card" or "Kyoto Treaty Card" (played to financially cripple a rival nation). It sounds great fun.

Ugh. School next week includes the Sixth Form Open Evening, and I'm kind of bricking it. It's on Wednesday night, and it'll be such a big relief when it's over.

Right. I'm going to read The Hunger Games now. Part 3! Mockingjay!

Also: I have quit smoking, for those who didn't know. It's now been 31 days since I had a cigarette. Woo!

books, friends, smoking, gigs, international terrorism, school
