A look back: A retrospective on the earlier part of this week.

 YAY!

Vet school is fun. I tried a desperate gambit, and at least for the first 4 days, it seems to be paying off.

Let me fill you in: I've passed two quarters of vet school in sub-mediocrity, zoning off in class, reading webcomics, surfing Reddit, editing Wikipedia, and Facebook stalking. I didn't study-- basically at all. Sometimes I made exceptions to cram for important classes. And my grades plummeted; I got more C's than A's for the first time in my life. That sounds good, but don't forget about the massive grade inflation that takes place in classrooms these days. They don't want to fail people; a C- is the worst you can get without convincing your prof that you're gonna kill the first pet you touch.

Last quarter I had lots of spare time. I should have been able to study, but I got even worse. I had an extended winter break, which I spent addicted to all kinds of unhealthy things. That's when I got bold.

I have a friend who tells me I'm an I-C personality type, and that I will always procrastinate when I can. She says either I have to trick one side of my personality into thinking studying is what I want to do, or I have to relax and lower my expectations. SO: I signed up for a boatload of classes.

I mean tons of classes. 28 hours of classes, to be specific-- and that's in one quarter, not one semester. It's completely absurd.

And it's working.

I'm under constant pressure. It's no longer a matter of "can I study a ton in order to keep up with the same thing everyone else is doing?" Now it's "can I undertake this ridiculous task?" And THAT is the kind of challenge that I rise to-- if I can make it through this quarter without dropping classes or failing them, I'll be really proud of myself (instead of just thinking "meh, I did the same thing as everyone else and got a B.)

Let's see if I can keep this up!
