that was close.
I was going to go on a midnight run to Hastings to pick up Halo 2 the minute it came out, but I talked to the people there and they said that, since I have a reservation card, the lines would be far shorter if I came tomorrow afternoon. Just to make sure, I checked my wallet for the reservation card, which I bought in late July on the day I got my license, and
the card was not there.
thus began a massive search of the house. and I just couldn't find it, even though I tore this place apart. the car too. I had given up and was going to go to bed and wake up at midnight, as previously planned, before realizing that I'm 16 and could get fined mega-bucks for being out past 11:00, especially on a weeknight, and especially when I'd be with a very noticeable mob of people.
You have to understand, people. this was a serious nerd catastrophe. After all, if you don't bag your copy of a popular game really fast, every store in town will run out and you'll be high and dry for at least a week. That goes for reserved copies too--it's a buyer's market, and people waving money in Hastings' face will eventually get a copy, even yours.
But then, I had a flashback. Being somewhat messy, I come home and dump my wallet and any receipts for things I buy on my dresser. I remembered Mom asking me "Why do you save all of your Taco Bell receipts? You'll never need them." and then, I had it!!!! If I could find the receipt, it would have the card's number on there, which is just as good as a barcode!!!! and sure enough, after a brief search, there it was at the bottom of a big paperclipped stack of receipts. Soooo, I put the receipt in my wallet. phew.
When I reserve my copy of Warrior Within, I'm going to glue the card to my face. That way I can never lose it.
