so, our suncoast is closing in about 2 weeks and everything in the store is 10-50% off. that being said, billy and i looked through the very over-picked anime section. there i find magic knight rayearth. both seasons in a single boxset. how can one go wrong? i mean, i really had absolutely no idea what it was about, but i have always wanted to see it because of fuu. fuu, dresses in green and has blonde curly hair, if that explains why. so, billy and i decided to watch some of it. i think we may have made it through the entire first disc and oh my god, the dubbing is just retched sometimes. i mean, they are excruciatingly over-redundant. BUT, i must say, and i am sure billy would agree with me, it is extremely humorous. serious plot, constant omninous music, three 14-year-olds who are trying to be the well-bred, beautiful girls they are and *random startling noise* they all turn chibi and the next 5 minutes of animation is completely chibi. then back to completely serious.
as an ode to bad dubbing, i would like to end with the following quote by fuu:
"but umi! if you didn't learn how to use your magic, that middle-aged lady in black clothing would have killed us!"
