Edward’s phone rings and he recognizes the phone number on the caller ID. “Elizabeth!” he shouts over the phone. “Hi, Edward! So you want to go walking? Good, I’ll be over in a few minutes,” Elizabeth says as she puts on her shoes. Edward is extremely excited and gets his shoes on. He sits and waits anxiously by the door. Edward is tapped on the shoulder by one of the caterers. “What do you want us to do?” she asks. “If at all possible, have the table and dinner ready by six. I’ll be back a little after. Make sure my guests have everything they need. I think that’s all,” Edward responds then pauses to think, “Whatever you do, do not let the guests leave. If they become restless, start dinner without me.” Edward sees Elizabeth drive up the driveway and he rushes outside to meet her.
The two hug and exchange greetings. Both talk about how much they have missed each other and decide to start their walk. During their walk they discuss their present concerns for themselves. Elizabeth is worried about finding a job in the area. She hopes to work at the police department in town. Edward is worried about his future career and seeing his friends again after spending so much time away from them. “A lot has changed, hasn’t it?” Edward asks Elizabeth. Elizabeth nods and comments, “Just a few years ago we were concentrating on what time to walk, what to talk about, and finding something entertaining to do. Now we focus on different things, I need a job to pay off my schooling, find someone to settle down with, start a family in the near future.” Edward asks her where she wants to settle down and if there are any possible husbands in the future. She answers saying there was this one guy in college she grew close to, but since being home the two have been apart. Edward sighs, “Sometimes you have to leave the one you love, or in my case, the one you love leaves you.” He remembers Geri and has given up hope on ever dating her. Elizabeth asks about Geri. “She’s moved on. She has a child now and is staying over in England. We’ve kept in touch by letters. It’s rather kind of sad, when you think about it. All I have is my music right now. What I want are my friends,” Edward says.
The two come back to the Kane Manor, Edward’s home. There are a few cars outside parked in the driveway and it is a little after six o’clock. Edward and Elizabeth stop by Elizabeth’s car. Elizabeth reaches for the handle on the door, but Edward stops her. “Are you sure you don’t want to come in and see everyone? We can hang out some more and catch up with everything. Consider it a friend reunion! Please, Liz, come inside and have dinner. Once dinner’s over you can leave and I won’t bug you to stay,” Edward begs. Elizabeth’s hand slowly moves from the car door to her side. The couple walks inside to see a few of their friends.
Elizabeth stays for the entire party having a fun time. Everyone enjoys themselves playing games and see their old friends. The party’s turn out wasn’t so bad after all. Edward was worrying about the party, but not he has to worry about his live performance in July at Kane Fest. There is also something else that Edward needs to worry about, but he does not know about it yet.
Later that evening, a man dressed in all black with gloves on and a metal bar in hand smashes a glass window on the other side of town. There is no alarm and the man opens a lock to a window and climbs in. Moments later the man returns through the window with a jewelry box, a few watches around his wrist, and pockets full of items.
