Channel 263

I heard things... I heard bad things and I heard good things. The crazy thing is I started hearing things like 3 years ago. Now it's here... and it sucks. But so did Comedy Central when it first started.

I'm talking about Logo. It is the new glbt TV channel from MTV Networks. The same great people that bring us the testosterone laced Spike TV.

I'm supposed to be excited that now there is a gay TV channel, but why? Well, let's look at it from two differnt angles.

I read where one guy said, "how can you have a TV channel that is aimed at a specific sexuality, and it not be an adult channel?" Well, that's a good point. That is from the idea that "I am not a gay man, I am a man that happens to be gay, but that is none of your business unless I'm fucking you..."

I somewhat agree with this.

Then there is the angle that says, "This is a revolutionary step in the right direction, giving the glbt community a voice that, up until now, it lacked."

Yeah, I agree with that too.

You see, and this is just my opinion, but being gay is more than who I fuck. It always has been, and always will be. I am not saying that this is a good thing, or a bad thing. It is a culture, a lifestyle, a community, and not just who you fuck.

This really gets onto another subject. One reason that people might have an issue with homosexuals is that when you say someone is gay, you are labeling them solely on who they have sex with. You would never say, "This is John, and he's straight. Yep, he sleeps with women." Ok, I might... lol

So, can you say, "This is a channel for people who like to have sex with people of the same gender?" It depends on if that's what you think being gay is. If it's more, then this channel is important.

The critics of this channel, and I am talking about the gay ones, are saying that this is creating an area of exclusion. Well, I like to think of it as an area of inclusion in a country where exclusion is the norm.

Did anyone say this shit about BET (Black Entertainment TV) or Lifetime (the original gay channel)?

Now if they would just get some good programing. I have to admit though, when I found the channel and watched it for a moment, the idea of what it was sunk in, and I got misty.

Yeah, cried like a little girl... hmmmmmm
