Actually going down to the firm would probably be a bad idea given everything that's happened. In the past? Angel wouldn't hesitate to march down and have a chat with a senior partner because, well, it's not as if he hadn't done that once or twice and ended up with a nice surprise playtime as a result. But now, a lot more things were a stake. A lot more that could happen if something blew up in their faces. So instead, Angel made a call. He hated the fact that he was even making a phone call versus actually doing something.
It had been a couple days since the call and he hadn't even spoke to Aidan himself. Seemed that the guy had a problem with taking slayers and using them as he pleased. First it happened with Lily and now Kat. Except with Lily she hadn't known better and had been with them first and maybe Kat didn't either but damnit Angel blamed himself for not putting up a sign in the hotel that said "DO NOT TALK TO THE SENIOR PARTNERS OF WOLFRAM AND HART". One would think that would be a general rule by now. Where was Fred? She was the one who got the girl into the hotel in the first place and then who the hell knew how she got mixed up with Wolfram and Hart after leaving the Hyperion. God. As if there wasn't enough trouble already now Angel had to worry about slayers getting fucking jobs at ... well at the place he used to be CEO of and now his fledging is CEO of currently. Anyway. Knowing Aidan, he'd probably laugh off the threat in the first place, but Angel wasn't just going to stand by and watch another slayer get taken down because of that place.
Fucking slayers. Fucking fledglings. Fucking.. people. Not that he'd ever wish his life to be without any of them, but... fuck.
Angel needed to clear his so he'd gone out patrolling for the night. Vamps and getting in a few good punches was as good as anything else for a little anger therapy. He'd already dusted a few when he started to feel like something was following him. Each time he turned around, nothing was there, but when something or someone followed him, he knew. Whatever it was, wasn't family which was usually the case lately.
Moving back towards the hotel, Angel turned down a dark street and felt like someone was watching him again. Slipping his hand into his pocket, he turned around just in time to see a demon come flying down from top of the roof onto him. Angel fell to the ground, losing the stake he had in his hand but a simple stake wasn't going to do him any good with this thing. It was at least as huge and aggressive as the demon that had attacked him and Faith right after she'd gotten back. What the fuck was every demon bigger than him on a mission to kill them all now?
Punch after punch and his efforts weren't doing any good. Angel was slammed into a brick wall and his feet were left dangling high off the ground. The demon was gripping at his neck and if Angel had needed to breathe, he would have passed out by now. He kicked hard to get loose, but the demon merely tilted his head to the side and just held Angel against the wall. "Son of a bitch!" Angel yelled and finally pushed himself forward hard enough so that they both fell forward. He needed a weapon better than a stake and he needed it fight this fucking second. But Faith wasn't here to go running back to the hotel this time.
Gritting his teeth, Angel vamped out and flew at the demon. His face hurt like a bitch and his chest was already bruised from the inside out. The ouside probably didn't look great either.
He ran at the demon full force and expected them both to fall down hard but instead the demon quickly reached out his hands and grabbed hold of Angel's head to where Angel could barely move to even try at getting away. Growling, Angel's eyes widened at the look on the demon's face. He froze because he knew what was coming. The second he remembered to fight back he felt his neck twist painfully hard to the side and the next thing he knew, there was nothing but black silence.
