I like working with my hands. It keeps me from being bored. I've decided I want to work with my hands for a living. Seriously.
So art teacher it is. Here are the perks about being an art teacher:
-You get to make art in a non-pressure situation. Whether or not you have food to eat does not depend on whether or not you sell that print you've been working on for 3 months for $100.
-You get to play with other artsy fartsy people. Not the students, the other teachers. Artsy Fartsy people (not the pretentious types) are good times. I'm thinking I want to find a counterpart like the Jeff/Ken duo. If you are an LMC art student you know exactly what I mean.
-If you are a college professor, the students are not mostly idiots. They are usually interesting lads, even the stupid ones. And if they are in your college art class, they actually want to be there.
-If I don't want to, I don't have to be overly bookish. I can just come into class and say "make art" and then leave to return later to inspect the said art. Or I can lecture for hours about complex philosophies and whatnot. It's all fair game.
-Also I'm aloud to be as eccentric as I want without people pointing fingers and gawking. I have an excuse. I'm just the crazy art teacher.
So those are my reasons.
My left pointer finger has a really deep cut and it hurts to type and play guitar.
At work I was 'recognized'. And also they assigned me to train the new framing manager. That's god damn hilarious to me. God damn hilarious indeed.
