How to perceive time lines properly for dummies

Oct 13, 2008 02:49

I am sick of "liberals" bitching and moaning about how the economy is screwed because of Bush and the war and the Republicans.  I am no Republican, no sir, and I definitely agree that there is some validity to this sentiment.  But those who see this as the lone cause are dummies.  I know everyone really craves simple black and white answers but that is not the way life works. Get over yourselves and look at the larger time line.  Life is a series of chain reactions, with each major turn of event building being defined and tweaked by those that came before it.

Given that, I present to you the following story about the housing industry. Please note the date on the article. It is from almost a decade ago:

President from party A decides to house the poor. Lovely sentiment, right? But this causes an expansion and boom in a market that will eventually collapse in the wake of a faltering economy.  Like with any other lovely sentiment, comes the greedy folks who use this as their change to take advantage.  This collapse helps our country's economy shift from faltering to flat out failing.  Now wait- before every Democrat, hippie, and their mom start to scream at me about oil and war and weapons- I totally understand. This faltering economy had a lot to do with the next president from party B and the decisions made during his presidency.  I get that.  Everyone gets that, check out the news or opinion polls, or online blogs to get that.  But you're not telling me anything new!  Something new would be someone telling me to step back and look at the bigger picture in terms of our economic time line.

Time lines are not so short.  This gross failure in economy was not just a result of our current president from party B, war, economy, etc.  This was a long time coming. A series of events compounding.  So before you go around screaming about how our country needs a Democrat for president instead of a Republican, take a step back and look at the bigger picture.  Running to a new party every time there's something wrong isn't the solution, it's part of the problem.  It's like putting lip balm on your dry lips and then becoming perpetually dependent on the stuff as it leaves you with otherwise dry lips.  Now I am not going to pretend like I can argue that a multi-party system would be better and present for you with a thesis on how to realisticaly implement this system.  I am not here to make any claim or present any brilliant idea. I'm just asking people to stop and put on their thinking caps and think about all of the variables before making judgements. If asking people to use their brains is a brilliant idea than fine, here it is!
