Summary: After the rollercoaster of events that led to Jensen choosing love over his supposed vocation he and Jared seemed to have finally settled into their relationship when a little red plus sign throws everything off kilter. Jensen doesn’t know how to break the news to Jared, unsure if it’s going to break them or turn out to be the best thing that could happen to them.
This is the sequel to my BigBang 2010 fic. It takes places right where the original story stopped, so I would suggest that you read The Lord Moves In Mysterious Ways first. If you don’t want to skip the prequel or have read it last year and need something to refresh your memory, I have a short summary for you.
Author’s Note: The title of this fic is taken from Psalm 111:7 and the quote at the beginning of each chapter is a modification of Psalm 91:14. I do not intend to offend anyone with this.
Acknowledgements: When I subscribed for BB 2011 I had never imagined how crazy RL would get for this year. Between a new job and the end of a long-term relationship there were many ups and downs and working this fic was a real struggle at times. Quick info/SPOILERS about the prequel (to freshen up everybody’s memory):
Jensen was a young priest who had just moved to NY. He lost his parents as a baby, grew up in an orphanage that belonged to Church and was basically raised by Father Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who’s like a real father to him.
One day he stumbled upon 17-year-old street kid Jared who is devastated because he just found out one of his “clients” got him pregnant. Jensen takes him in and does everything he can to make him open up. He also shows him the options he’s got and offers to help him change his life.
Things are finally starting to click when Jared loses the baby. Jensen is left to take care of him and help him heal and in the meantime realizes that he’s been falling for the troubled kid.
After thinking about it long and thoroughly, he talks to Jeff who tells him to follow his heart.
In the end Jensen chooses love over being a priest and starts a new life with Jared, living in a small apartment and working at the clinic his best friends Steve (who’s a doctor) and Chris (who’s a paramedic) already worked at. He and Jared are taking it slow but then Jensen finds out he’s pregnant and that’s where this new fic starts.
