The following is a fragment of a comment I made in WitchVox, yesterday (
http://www.witchvox.com/wren/wn_detail.html?id=19602). The article in question was yet another idiotically sensationalist bit of journalistic tripe that has to latch onto the fact that a missing, and quite possibly abducted and murdered woman, was involved in witch craft and thus imply that it had something to do with her plight. I know I'm not alone in getting seriously fed up with this sensationalist bullshit that these assholes just latch onto to try and hype up an interest in their story. The reality is that, given the facts, this was probably related to a theft of the rental TV that was missing and I seriously doubt it had anything to do with her spiritual beliefs - unless, of course, she summoned up a daemon who also took a fancy to her TV when it whisked her away!
How this kind of stereotyping and trouble mongering is meant to help find this poor woman and bring her loved ones closure (or even, hopefully, her :) ) I don't know.
I think its about time that the idiot were brought to task for their crap and, if they insist on continuing, be made to bring everyone's religion into the story in exactly the same way and let everyone feel equally fed up and insulted. Anyhow, it was with this fresh in my mind that I wrote the following:
Religious Hate Crime suspected in Whitehall Woman's Disappearance
Three years after after Tina Wilson disappeared mysteriously, baffled authorities have yet to rule out foul play.
As Tina was very involved in Wicca and witchcraft, a religiously biased hate crime must be considered a possibility.
This State is home to a large number of Christians who are worshipers of a Jew who was executed by the Romans for causing civil unrest some two thousand years ago. Many members of the numerous cults following this convicted criminal are open in their discrimination and hatred of other Constitutionally protected religions and their followers. Traditionally this hatred has been most keenly focused on the Traditional Earth based religions, such as Witchcraft, with this discrimination frequently turning into extreme violence, especially towards women. History reminds us that atrocities committed by Christian fanatics have included mass torture, rape, genocide, mutilation and human sacrifice while Christian terrorists have killed unbelievers for the greater glory of their God in suicide attacks.
Police would like to ask any Christians who suspect some of their fellow worshipers of having information concerning this poor woman's fate to contact them via the specially set up confidential telephone number.
Now, I wonder how well THAT would be accepted if it turned up in a newspaper? The assholes that are quite happy to see our beliefs lied about and maligned would probably play merry hell at having the TRUTH about their religion aired, wouldn't they :)
