Yesterday morning, while on my way to work, I got rear-ended. I was stopped as were all of the cars ahead of me because it is Cedar avenue and sometimes they tow cars who don't move by 7 am. I was the last car through the intersection before the light changed and then I stopped mid-block because...everyone else had! Novel idea. After all, about 40 other cars had managed to stop. Some a-hole comes up behind me at 35-40 mph and rams into me. I hit the car ahead of me. I spend all day yesterday on the phone with the insurance co, filling out paperwork for the state, getting car in for estimate and repairs, getting a rental car, and finally, a massage because every muscle in my body is starting to sieze up. My car was finally paid off two months ago and was a perfect, low-maintenance car. I am officially putting a curse upon all stupid, a-hole, morning drivers who don't realize that getting to work an extra minute early isn't worth it. People need to slow down and be a little more aware in the am. My back, neck, hands, feet, and car thank all of you who manage to drive to work each day without being a-holes. :) On the up side, my rental car is loads nicer than my own - not worth the accident, but nice all the same.
