"All is being done to help people in the storm ravaged areas." - Red Cross President Marsha J. Evans.

I have a one word response to that: bullshit. If this is all that can be done, what are we going to do when there's in an even worse (if that's possible) disaster happens?

Sadly, I think that it has come down to a racial issue. The mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, is a Black man, most of the government is Black and 70% of the residents are Black. It just seems that you see hardly anyone but Black people on the news reports. Maybe it's because so many Black families or so much poorer than most of the White families in the city. Many of the people that could get out got out before the storm hit. But so many people that lived in the Ninth Ward or other areas just did not have this privilege.

Anyway, I think it's a sad ordeal.

I met a girl from New Orleans in Wal-mart tonight. She just was able to get out on Friday after some family came and got her and her family. She said she is going to live in Natchitoches now and try to go to NSU, because she said there is nothing left for her down there.

Current gas price: $2.86.

Later and much love.
