Weiss knocked on the door. "Somebody order an Eric Weiss?"

Parker opened the door, smiling but looking tired. "You better believe it. Hi." She pulled the door open farther, leaning back against the wall. "Tell me your day was terrific, please?"

Weiss walked in and closed the door behind him. "JD got me a Best Dudes medallion for my birthday," Weiss said. "Otherwise, it's been pretty uneventful." He didn't say anything but he looked Concerned.

Parker started to laugh, and might have moved reeaaally closely into his personal space. "Best Dudes? Do you go to weddings, and support the groom or something?" She took his hand and laced her fingers with his. "Glad you had a good day. Someone had to."

Weiss squeezed her hand. "What's up? Can I help?"

She gave him a much realer smile at that. "Yes. Practically and... just sticking around." Parker tugged on his hand, and lead him over to the bed where she sat down and handed over a lock. "I might have to get someone out of handcuffs tomorrow. There's a rescue party heading out for Bridge and Z. Show me this one?" she pleaded. "Please?"

"Not a problem," Weiss said accepting the lock. "Get me your picks."

Parker grabbed them off her bookcase, then settled in next to him. There might have been leaning against him as she watched him work the lock.

Okay, there was definitely leaning. Wasting shoulders like that would be a crime.

Weiss felt Parker, warm and snuggly and dangerous, like a blanket with a switchblade. Kind of completely awesome.

He finally clicked open the lock. "Yeah... that was the tough one," Weiss said. "Try it again now." He closed the lock again and handed over the picks.

Parker frowned, running through the pattern he'd used in her head, and slowly worked the lock, stopping when she got to a tricky part, then finally releasing the catch. "I'm not even going to ask if you timed me, that was bad." She tilted her head against his shoulder, and tried it again. After a few seconds, she said, "So yeah. Tomorrow night. I'll probably be very late, but... if you want, I'll call when I get in."

Because she has no idea if this is something he wants to know as soon as it's certain that she's okay. Maybe. Maybe he just believes she'll be fine, no matter what. Weird area.

"Thanks," Weiss said, meaning it. And then he kissed her, because well, she had lips. And she was Parker. And the two things combined meant that kissing should definitely ensue.

Parker grinned, relaxing into it, and kissed back soft and warm, then deeper. Much, much better than thinking about kidnaps and rescues. And something tricky bypassed there, like the lock.

"Mmmmm." She broke away to grin at him; looked at the lock, then Weiss. "Time me. When I can do this in less than three minutes, I'm quitting for the night."

"Quitting the lock or quitting quitting for the night?" Weiss asked. "Because I thought we might hang out in a way that wasn't lockpicking."

"Oh, you're not leaving tonight." She glanced at him from beneath her eyelashes. "Right? I could find you a toothbrush, if I must."

"I live a floor up," Weiss said quickly. "I can brush tomorrow morning after."

"Mmmm. Good." She curled closer to him, then thought about it, and draped one leg over his, before she glared at the lock. "Right. So. Time me." Parker started twirling the picks, back, forth, side, side, and absently said, "That Dawn girl came by to threaten me. Fire ants."
