Parker and the ten other Americans in Dolphin Hall were holding the common room hostage. Pizza boxes, Thai and Indian food, and lots of alcohol were scattered around the room as they switched between CNN, BBC1 and the sat feed of the US channels.

At one jittery, caffiene-laden point, she sent a global text to her friends:

ENGLAND SUPPORTS US! SEND SPOILERS! AND TACOS! VIVA LA REVOLUTION!
