Hotel Hyperion, Sunday evening

Jan 13, 2008 18:28

The last month's activities had been all over the map, from phone calls about Angelus with Angela, to attending the Fandom 2008 New Year's Eve party, to celebrating her 19th birthday with Angelo and keeping in contact with other friends via phone.

Yesterday's dinner and talk with Angel and Isabel had worked out better than she'd expected, really ( Read more... )

Logan rapped on the doorway of her room with his knuckles. "I understand you have alcohol for me?"

Parker looked up from her magazine, and quirked an eyebrow at him. "I was about to send it to Xander, if you weren't going to show." She walked over to her suitcase, and fished out the bottle of pepper vodka, one of rum, and one of tequila. "Happy new year. Don't drink it all in one shot."

"Bless you, my child!" Logan grinned as he took the bottles from Parker. "Thanks!"

Parker smirked a little, folding her arms. "Consider it my apology for not being able to make it to Fandom during crisis week." She cocked her head. "Angel seems to be handling the aftermath with his usual stoicism."

"Interesting times," Logan said. "I don't know if you being there would've helped at all, no offense."

"No, it sounds like Mel did the heavy lifting, and then others got the job finished. Who did the spell to give him back his soul, anyway? Willow?" Parker sat on the window seat overlooking the main avenue outside the Hyperion, studying Logan. "And how are you coping with it now?"

"Willow got hurt," Logan said. "Some guy named Peter did the spell." He sat down in a chair and examined the bottles of alcohol, deciding which one to open first.

"Not Peter Pevensie, or Peter Parker, he's no magician-- wait, Steve-Peter? Petrelli?" Parker shook her head. "Something else to cross-examine Ronan about next time I talk to him." And no, she didn't miss that her question had been ignored. "Does the very thought of answering that question make you want to start drinking, or is this just your default setting when you have alcohol in front of you?"

Logan decided on the pepper vodka and twisted off the cap. "Things are fine now," he said. "It just wasn't a fun time, you know?"

"I know. I remember the original movie. Maybe I should be glad I missed the sequel, even though it meant I didn't get to poke Angelus with a sharp stick through the bars of the jail." She cocked an eyebrow. "Most people would like a shot glass for that stuff."

"Don't want to go get one," Logan said.

Parker restrained the urge to facepalm and reminded herself that he wasn't her brother, ex-boyfriend, child, or otherwise her responsibility now. Really. He had all that money. He had a job. He had Angel.

"Classy." In the spirit of Miss Manners, she couldn't stop herself from going into the bathroom and getting a couple Dixie cups. "Pour me a shot while you're at it. So. No recriminations? No sulking? No asking you to kill him when it was all over?"

Logan poured shots for both of them. "Oh, he was totally broody, of course. You know how he is."

Parker took a sip of the vodka, feeling the burn of peppers at the back of her throat, and nodded, rolling her eyes. "Woe. Woe. Unworthy of existence woe. Brood. Epic recrimination. Woe. Hiding. And genuine pain in there that makes it hard to smack him for it." She considered. "Not impossible, at least if you're me, though."

Logan downed his shot and poured another. "Yeah, well, there were complications, too," he admitted.

Parker stilled for a second, then poured another shot, but didn't drink it. "Oh? Such as?"
