Islamic terror smokescreen at work in Iraq

The section of the American electorate that relies on the corporate media to make sense out of the presidential campaign must use all of their analytical skills to cut through the daily onslaught of spin and posturing.

Despite news shows' claims of being the "the best political team in television," "keeping them honest," "fair and balanced" and being a source of "independent reporting," these programs invariably fall short on the history and context that helps viewers makes sense out of what we are living through.

For example, the media's reference to the violence taking place in Iraq as the results of the United States being "at war" with terrorists in Iraq is, to be polite, a mischaracterization. To be blunt, the United States invaded and occupied Iraq.
