Riz paced the floor of the main room of Mozzie HQ. Moz had been gone too long. She didn't like the fact that she had gone to the Mall alone. There was too much bad blood between her and the Mallrats.
Kay, off to one side, sighed. "You're going to wear a hole in the floor." She told her.
"She's been gone too long." Was the reply.
"She can handle herself." Kay was confident.
Suddenly a crash came from one of the other rooms. The two Mosquitos looked at eachother with wide eyes, then rushed to see what had happened. Erica was awake, standing on the bed she'd been sleeping on, the table next to her had been knocked over. "Where am I? Where's my zapper?"
Riz looked at Kay in a silent signal to take over. Kay had been a vidhead, Riz had avoided the virtual world like a plague. Kay took a deep breath, and stepped forward. "It's okay, Erica. You're at Mosquito HQ, and safe."
"Where's my zapper?" Erica demanded again.
"You never had one. It wasn't real. There's no game anymore. No more virtual world."
Erica laughed. "Virtual World? Who needs one? Who needs computers when there's empty buildings and leftover Techno Zappers?"
Kay glanced over at Riz, and was glad the other Mosquito looked as shocked as she felt. So shocked she took over the conversation. "What do you mean? You mean someone's playing the game for real? People could die from those zappers!"
Erica shrugged. "Who cares when it's so much fun?"
Riz glanced at Kay, beginning to question Erica's mental stability. "Who set it up? Where is it being played?"
Erica's eyes narrowed. "Why do you want to know? You want to stop it don't you?! NOO!!" She lept of the bed, slamming them out of the way, and escaping into the next room.
Riz got to her feet first, running after her, but Erica was already gone. She held her side and looked over at Kay, who'd been only a few steps behind. "Moz isn't going to like this." She told her.
