It was inevitable that I would make a post about the Golden Globes seeing as I'm a sucker for any awards show that honours film and/or television. Did anyone else watch it? What are your thoughts?
GOOD THINGS:
*Congrats to Hugh Laurie for winning for the second straight year for "House". As I was listening to his speech I just couldn't get over how witty, talented and sexy this man is. Unbelievable. His speech was funny, as usual, and I liked his little shout-out to Robert Sean Leonard.
*I'm very happy to see that Martin Scorsese is recieving the attention he deserves. He's gone far too long without getting the proper accolades that he deserves. Here's hoping that his win for Best Director will eventually have the same result at the Oscars next month.
*Yay for Sasha Baron Cohen. That man is a pure comic genius. Even his speeches have me in tears, laughing. Hands down, one of the funniest performances I've ever seen in my life.
*Brad Pitt was there. He's so pretty. With Angelina Jolie. She's so beautiful. This made me a happy person. I love them.
*Helen Mirren is so stunning. She deserves both of her awards.
*Jeremy Irons won. Who doesn't love that man? It's impossible not to like him.
*It made me happy that the British actors really ruled the night. They won almost everything. Thank god for the Hollywood Foreign Press for honouring their talent, which tends to get overlooked on Oscar night.
BAD THINGS:
*People I love who didn't win: Brad Pitt, Kate Winslet, Michael C. Hall, Steve Carell and Jeremy Piven.
*Shows/Movies I love that didn't win: "The Departed", "Borat", "Little Miss Sunshine" and "Entourage".
*How is "Dreamgirls" better than "Little Miss Sunshine" or "Borat"? I don't think that's possible.
*Despite the fact that I was happy for Forest Whittaker's win for Best Actor in a Drama, I had really been rooting for Leonardo DiCaprio in "The Departed".
*Jennifer Hudson? Really? She was better than people like Cate Blanchett? Pfft. I don't think so...this isn't the Grammy's!
*Stupid "Gray's Anatomy" winning Best Drama.
