"Consider Yourself at Home..."

I work later on tonight. It's rainy and I'm not in the mood for it. The only thing that is making me look forward to it is the fact that the Brandon Routh look-alike waiter offered to take me on a quick spin on his motorcycle before we start work today. lol! I think I have a big crush on this guy. He looks like Clark Kent, reads, rides a motorcycle and is studying law. It doesn't get any better that this, girls! ;)

Yesterday was a really great day. Despite the dreary weather I went with my family to Stratford (in Ontario, not England) to watch the musical "Oliver!" starring Colm Feore. This has been one of my all-time favourite musicals ever since I was six years old. I love the 1968 film version with Ron Moody and Jack Wild. A couple of years ago I read the Charles Dickens novel and fell in love with that too. Needless to say, I was very excited to finally have the oppourtunity to see the play live on stage.

We had really great seats in row seven. The theatre was packed. The sets were excellent, the costumes had a very authentic feel to them and all of the choreography and singing was superb, even from the child actors.

Tyler Pearse was excellent as Oliver Twist. Not only was he appropriatly adorable but he had quite the voice on him too. Scott Beaudin was a charismatic little Artful Dodger, which, along with Fagin, has always been a favourite character of mine. Blythe Wilson, who I saw years ago as the Narrator in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat" played Nancy and she has such a powerhouse of a voice. She brought the house down when she sang, "As Long As He Needs Me". But the star of the show was, by far, Colm Feore as Fagin. He's such a marvelous actor to watch and it was almost surreal watching him perform in person. He seemed a natural for the role and had such energy that you couldn't help but want to sing along when he sang "Pick A Pocket Or Two".

Overall, it was excellent. I don't think I have a single complaint. When the whole cast came out to sing the reprise of "Consider Yourself" while taking their final bows, the entire audience was on their feet clapping and singing along. It was such a well put-together show.

Afterwards, we went out for dinner at Baton Rouge and I FINALLY bought the second season of "Six Feet Under". I already watched the first two episodes. This show blows my mind. It made me both laugh and cry in the span on one hour. awoken, I must make a little post just for you on what I thought of the first two episodes. I think you are the only one on my FList who watches the show. :)
