Do any of you constantly worry about what you are going to do with your life? I mean, I'm 23 and in my fourth year at university. I can't make up my mind as to what I want as a career. I have far too many interests. A part of me just wishes I was one of those people who, ever since the age of six, knew exactly what they wanted to do, like be an astronaut or a vet. lol.
I want to be all of the following:
*A film historian
*An entertainment journalist
*A British culture historian
*A criminologist (I don't know exactly what field)
*A true crime reporter
I'm thinking of taking a two year criminology programme once I get my English Literature and History degrees in April 2008. This way, all options can be open to me because I've majored in all of those fields. I keep switching back and forth. I'll watch an American Justice episode and want to visit a crime scene and write about bringing killers to justice. I'll watch a favourite film of mine or watch an interview with a particular celebrity I like and want to write about film and actors all my life. Then, I'll realize my passion for history, especially British history, while watching the History Channel and want to be a historian who travel Europe looking for ancient artifacts. I want to do all of those things.
I also want the things other people want as well. A family of my own. A husband and a couple of kids, although I want that a bit later in life (I'm not too interested in having that in my twenties).
What to do? How about all of you tell me which career path I should follow? lol. I mean, sure, I'm not chained down to one job. I could always switch careers, but it sounds like such an incovenience to do that. I'd rather pick one and love it. I know I could do a job really well if I had the passion for it. I worry that I won't get any of them and will be stuck in a miserable, stupid job.
Am I being crazy or do some of you share those concerns?
