Movie Moments--Part Five

The film clip I'm using this week has a lot to do with my username. It's the film that really made me realize the brilliance that was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. I'd always been a fan of classical music but I never preferred one composer over another. That is, until I saw Milos Foreman's 1984 Best Picture winner, "Amadeus ( Read more... )

I have never gotten through the burial scene without crying. It gets me every, single time.

Man, what an awesome movie. I've not watched it in a while. I need to remedy that. Thanks for reminding me!

I never cried at the burial scene but I always did feel this incredible sense of sadness. Not just because a talent like Mozart was buried in a pauper's grave, but just the fact that anyone could be buried in a mass grave makes me so sad. So many lost bodies. :(

You really should watch it again. Have you ever seen the Director's Cut? If not, definately give it a shot. It's about an extra forty minutes and it's wonderful.

I didn't even have to read your post, as soon as you mentioned Amadeus, I knew I had to watch the scene. I *love* this movie (if I remember correctly, our mutual love for this movie is why we originally friended each other!) and that scene is so amazing to watch.

I watched it all the way through when I was posting it even though I've seen it a lot of times. It's just so easy to constantly rewatch. I can't remember where we met. Are you a member of the Amadeus community?

Very appropriate icon! :)

I think Tom Hulce should have been put in the Best Supporting Actor category, to give him more of a chance to win. However, I think F. Murray Abraham totally deserved his Best Actor award. Sure, it was the less showy of the two performances, but he was so subtly brilliant.

I have nothing to add except that this is an absolutely gorgeous movie and I don't know what my life would've been without it. The first time I'd seen it had been in my Music History class and I couldn't get enough of it. I need some Tom Hulce icons. :)

Any comment is adding to the post. :) I appreciate your response. I first saw it by accident. I wanted to watch a film I'd never seen before so I borrowed it from my now ex-bofriends brother. And, needless to say, I fell in love! With everything. The film. The direction. The script. The cast. Mozart himself.

I used to have a great Tom Hulce icon from the scene where he is conducting while wearing that pink wig.

Hee. That is an accidental viewing! Good thing you saw it though. It's such a beautiful, beautiful film. Makes me laugh, makes me cry, really makes me appreciate music particularly Mozart's Classical style.

I remember that one! I'm probably going to end up making icons soon.

I know! It's great how things work out like that sometimes. And who knew it would become one of my all-time favourites!

I look forward to your icons!

Do you often do Top 20 lists? That would make an interesting read. I love making movie lists. This movie moments thing that I'm doing is a once a week thing (every Thursday). I've done Last Tango in Paris, East of Eden, The Godfather and City Lights so far.

I love the Director's Cut version. I love all the added scenes. It really adds to the characters, I think.
