This is the first entry which catalogues my trials as a Healer in the land of Cyrodil.
After escaping from prison with the aid from the Blades and the emperor, I set out to find the monk, Jauffre, at Weynon Priory. Uriel Semptim had informed me the it was this monk, who was the previous leader of the emperor's personal guards, The Blades, that would lead me to the sole heir to the Septim throne. Shortly after receiving this request, he was cut down, leaving with me his final words - "Close shut the jaws of Oblivion."
After finding Jauffre, I was told to travel to Kvatch, where in the temple of Akatosh I would find Martin Septim, the lost son of the late emperor. Although, as I arrived at the base of the city, I found its citizens in a make-shift camp. I was told that a portal to Oblivion had opened up in front of the city, and that Daedric creatures has emerged, ransacking the town. This claim came to light when I found Salvian Matius and his Legion soldiers stationed behind a barricade outside the city. I queried him as to how I could help, and with an unsure waver in his voice, told me I would be the one to enter the gate to Oblivion. Evidently, several of his men had gone in, but never come out. So, with slight hesitation, I ran through the portal, and was sucked into the gaping maw of the gate.
Upon landing outside the portal, I was greeted by two Scamps, mischievous, green, impish Daedric creatures, armed with sharp claws and nasty fireballs of Destructive magic. I returned their assault with one of my own, but they soon lost interest with me, and turned their focus upon a soldier from Kvatch - presumably one of Matius's men - although they soon made short work of him. Though, this did give me time to heal up and cut the two Scamps down. By "cut" I clearly mean "burn with magic." I traversed the rest of the plane, and removed the Sigil Stone from the Great Tower, closing the gate effectively.
Once outside Kvatch again, Matius and his men (myself included) rushed the gate to Kvatch. We cleared the southern plaza and freed the civilians held up in the church. Among them, a man who'd a later find out to be of great importance. We continued our way through the town, hacking our way through the Daedra, until we came upon a small roadblock - the castle gate was drawn. I was sent back to the cathedral, to find Berich Inian, a guard who had possession of the gate house key. Once at the church, I had found reinforcements from the Imperial Legion had arrived. They had seen the smoke from the town while on patrol. Berich Inian did indeed have the key, and with the reinforcements in tow, we traveled through the cathedral's undercroft to reach the gate house. Berich opened the gate, and the lot of us, including Matius's men, bull rushed the Daedric forces in front of Castle Kvatch. Unfortunately, the only people who survived were Salvian, myself, and Tierra, one of the guards who had followed us after we had rescued the civilians (of, she would later be killed by two Scamps who had wondered into the temple). As I recall, Berich's last words were something like "WHY-WON'T-YOU-DIE?!" A good man. Salvian and I continued into the castle, where we would find the count slain. Salvian told me to take his cuirass of Kvatch in return for my services, promising he would no longer need it.
I left the city, returning to the camp to find the man I had seen in the chapel, and would later learn was of great importance...
