Oh my....one of my old friends from Fairbanks just forwarded this to me.....damn this brings back memories :-)
You grew up in Fairbanks , Alaska if......
1. You were appalled when "Alaskaland" was changed to
" Pioneer Park "
2. You know that Polar Roller used to be called
Northernlights Roller Rink, you know where it was and
you went there every chance you got
2.5. You remember "The Center" before it was Sears.
3. You know the 365 mile drive to Anchorage can be a
weekend trip.
4. You know that Hot Licks isn't the name of a porno
and wasn't always a drive-up stand
5. You know the Knotty Shop isn't a sex store.
6. You see Mike Schultz in public and think you just
saw a celebrity.
7. You think that ten below just really isn't that
cold.
8. You get the 'Miner and the first thing you check is
to see if anyone you know got arrested. And it's like
winning the lottery if there is!
9. You can tell the temperature by the stiffness of
your car's extension cord.
10. EVERYONE has seen the ballet "The Nutcracker" at
least 3 times.
11. You have more miles on your snow machine than on
your car.
12. You've ran the Midnight Sun Run in costume at
least once.
13. No one misses school for snow days.. you get
excited for ICE fog days!
14. You have been hit on by a G.I. at least 5 times in
the past year (more like five times in one night!)
15. You know when it's 30 degrees it's time to bust
out "summer clothes".
16. You know Harding Lake is known more for parties
than for being a lake.
17. You know what Summer Solstice is and party all
night long.
18. For fun in high school you painted the rival
schools "rock".
19. The fence around your garden is to keep out
moose.. not rabbits.
20. You see the same person more than once at
different stores in the same day.
21. The muddy leech-infested Chena River is the
closest thing you have to a beach.
22. Vacation means going to Hawaii in January.
23. You measure distance in hours.
24. You know several people who have totaled their car
hitting a moose
25. You often switch from heat to AC in the same day
and back again.
26. You can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow during
a raging blizzard while you look out of a 2 inch hole
surrounded by frost, without flinching.
27. All women carry jumper cables and know how to use
them.
28. Halloween costumes are designed to fit over
snowsuits.
29. Driving is better in the winter because the
potholes are filled with snow.
30. You've eaten at 'Skinny Dicks Halfway Inn"
31. To you "Down South" means Anchorage .
32. It doesn't take a man to tell a woman her starter
is out, how to change a tire, or change the oil in
your vehicle because she knows how to do it all.
33. You remember the original Ivory Jacks building -
you know, before it "burned down"
34. You been to at least one party on the dike,
Cushman flats, or Goldstream flats
35. We use "snow machines" ALOT and NO they don't make
snow
36. When the only stores were the old Fred's and
Pay'n'save and Carrs foodland
37. You love the ORIGINAL Food Factory
