Thanks to the generosity of my friends, I'm currently at $360 for the event with promises of more to come.
My t-shirt and handbook and paperwork arrived the other day. I need to finish filling out the medical form, scan it for my records and then send it back. Hopefully I'll get to it this weekend. Bad news about the walk: no ihPods. So my idea of making a 10 hour playlist guaranteed to keep me going through the night is out. Oh well. I can still update to facebook during rest breaks so you will all still be able to share in my progress throughout the night.
I've started training. So far this week I've walked 5 miles a day. I'm going to do this for another week as well as figure out how many miles I walk in a normal day before increasing miles. My pedomter, an Omron HJ-112, arrived from Amazon yesterday and I just finished setting it up. I'm going to need to adjust my stride slightly...when I took the inital measurement I was hobbling a bit. Seems my hips aren't happy about walking 5 miles a day, three days in a row and they're letting me know it.
