Lug Thife

Here are some photos of my awesome new fixed gear bike. Fuji Valite steel frame tubing (60 cm), Sugino cranks, Mavic rims on Nashbar hubs, Soma cog, 39x15 gearing. I just built it on Sunday, starting with a nice 1980s Fuji Allegro road bike that I picked up cheap last week, off of Craigslist as usual. I built both the wheels myself.

This is definitely nicer than my last fixed gear, and it's a blast to ride. I've named it Lug Thife.

I rode it to work this morning, which was great. It's fast and handles well, though I find the 25 mm front tire to be a little harsh... I'll probably go to 28 mm eventually. The only bad part of the ride was a dead raccoon smack in the middle of a section of bike lane that I can't avoid. The raccoon smells *awful* ... YECH YECH YECH!!! Tomorrow I'm holding my breath and riding fast past it.
