I've realized that I don't use this userpic very often and now I'm wondering why that is because it's a very pretty userpic, probably one of my favorites that I've created. (Though the rainbow gradient flare is a little much, but especially when I first started using GIMP I was all LOL GRADIANT FLARE YAY!)
I'm in the mood to list things off so here are some of my ramblings.
1. My Wednesday nights are so empty now without Lost. I think I've finally recovered from the sheer amount of OMGWTFPOLARBEAR from the finale... now on to theorizing for next season and trying to tie in relating it to Final Fantasy games as much as possible.
2. Despite it being a late start for school today, I got to school at 7:15 because my group was going to do some filming for our Media Design project. However, one group member didn't show up (& wasn't in school at all today) so we couldn't get anything done. But it wasn't a total waste because I ended up reading about 50 pages of As I Lay Dying. (The school is very empty at 7:15 when school doesn't start until 9:00.. except for Alix curled up on the floor sleeping.)
3. My dance recital is coming up very soon. (It's on May 30th for those interested... more details on that later maybe when I see people this weekend.) Hopefully everything will turn out well. A lot of my dances have come together really nicely (especially lyrical, which used to be an absolute mess).
4. Internet Explorer is working to my liking now (although it has an annoying habit of not remembering my logins; I think it has something to do with cookies), but Firefox is still being slow. I'm pretty convinced that it has some kind of virus because everything else is pretty much running fine. I have to remember to see if my dad can get my virus scan running again.
5. I started a new playthrough of Final Fantasy VIII a couple of weekends ago. It is such a ridiculously easy game especially if you really know how to work the junction system (which I didn't really until disc three of my last playthrough). Also, the dialogue is absolutely hilarious especially once you get to disc two and Squall really begins to start inner-monologuing about how you shouldn't rely on other people because you'll just end up losing them and you'll be all alone. It would be even funnier if it was voice-acted, but I think the fact that it's not voice-acted makes the dialogue able to be that much cheesier. (And it would be hard to convey all of Squall's "..." responses.)
6. I got inducted into the Latin National Honor Society on Monday. It's kind of funny to hear the head of the language department talking about how great it is to learn languages so that you have the opportunity to go to other countries and speak it... when Latin isn't even a spoken language. (But the Others speak it, so nyaaah. I could always go to the island and have Latin conversations with them.)
7. My pointe shoes have finally stopped giving me blisters. (I named them Eden and Anima because I have a tendency to name inanimate objects. Anima was the one that was giving me blisters, I think. Even though pointe shoes are fairly indistinguishable, I know that Anima is the one with the stripe on the bottom from the black dye.) Also, I think it thelped that I got new toe pads that aren't falling apart.
8. A few weeks ago I discovered
OrgLIX, which does audio dramas focusing on Organization XIII from Kingdom Hearts. They're absolutely hilarious especially if you have great love for the Organization and parodies thereof. (I mean, anything that can portray Xemnas as a Cloud Cuckoolander lover of pie is awesome.)
9. I was listening to the Broadway Lion King soundtrack today while doing my homework, and I've forgotten how awesome that soundtrack is. I used to listen to it constantly when I was 12-13. So many fond memories. I remember coming home from school and just putting it on and dancing. I remember doing that with the Seussical soundtrack too.
10. I haven't really been writing a lot lately, which makes me sad. I really need to figure out how I'm going to start working on Across the Ocean again, i.e. make all the traveling that they have to do interesting or find away to effectively cut out their traveling time (which I know I'm going to be doing on their way back, but I guess it kind of makes sense there because Perrin is in BSOD mode). I've kind of wanted to write something with Talia, too, because I really love her as a character (because she has Speshal Powers that make me consider her to be a cross between Eloise from Lost and Ellone from Final Fantasy VIII with a little bit of River from Firefly thrown in for good measure). I kind of want to do a
1sentence thing with Talia/Leon (because they're probably my favorite pairing from my writings, behind Perrin/Julia of course), but I can't find an appropriate theme set. I might just make up my own using various prompts I've gathered.
Uh, yeah, pardon my rambling. I think I'm going to be productive now and finish my Roaring Twenties packet for history.
