and as i turned to make my way back home, the snow turned into rain

Charlie's face in my icon = my brain right now. If you looked at my brain right now, it would probably look EXACTLY like that.

Recital was yesterday, which is always a day full of ZOMGCRAZY, especially when there's poor planning in the lineup of the 2:00 show and you have to do three dances in the span of less than ten minutes. The 2:00 show also saw a slight wardrobe malfunction (not me, thankfully), but it was gracefully remedied without too many people noticing. We all made sure our "It Don't Mean a Thing" costumes were securely tied and double-knotted at the neck for the 7:00 show, though. And afterwards wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Probably because I know that the seniors will be back. They'll always come back.

And, speaking of coming back...

So. Good. Not sure if it tops last season's finale, "Through the Looking Glass," but it was definitely awesome, like all of the season finale moments. I haven't digested it enough to give a coherent response, but here are some important points/moments that I thought I'd mention. They're not necessarily in chronological order.

1. Beginning the episode with the scene following the end of last season's finale = awesome. It was a nice little way of, y'know, circular storytelling. Angry!Kate in that scene was pretty awesome. And of course the one question in my mind was "WHO THE HELL IS JEREMY BENTHAM?" (Besides the utilitarian approach guy.) And, in another bit of circular storytelling, the present action of the story line had pretty much caught up with the earliest flash-foward scenes as seen in "There's No Place Like Home, Part 1."

2. ZOMG JIN ASPLODED. Or so we think. Sun screaming on the helicopter for him was heartwrenching. And she yelled "WE HAVE TO GO BACK!"

3. Future!Sun = badass. That is all I have to say.

4. BEN MOVED THE ISLAND! And now we know how he ended up in the Sahara Desert wearing an Orchid parka - but why did he end up in October 2005 after turning the "Frozen Donkey Wheel"? Also, Ben in the funeral home = creepy.

5. Juliet drinking rum on the beach. BUT WHY IS THE RUM GONE?

6. Charlotte might have been born on the island? WTF?

7. ZOMG DESMOND AND PENNY, TOGETHER AT LAST! I knew it was her boat the moment that I saw that Portuguese guy from the season 2 finale. And I was right in my earlier conjecture that Penny's boat would do the rescuing! Desmond/Penny = OTP.

8. HOW DID LOCKE GET IN THE COFFIN? Did he have to move the island at another point in the future and he, like Ben, couldn't go back? Was he one of Sayid's assassin targets? THE MIND BOGGLES.

9. I love how they always give us deja-vu moments to previous season finales: something always blows up (season 1: the hatch door (and Arzt!) , season 2: the Swan, season 3: some tents and some Others, season 4: the freighter), another electromagnetic sky-turning-purple moment (which we also saw in season 2), and people floating on a raft yelling to a boat in the distance for rescue (which we saw in season 1; I was half-expecting the boat to be full of Others instead of Penny... but I was glad it was Penny). There was also Sun screaming "WE HAVE TO GO BACK!" just like Jack did in "Through the Looking Glass" ... but it was a lot more heartbreaking when she did it.

One question I do have, though: Did the island move during the season 2 electromagnetic incident? It did become visible to those Portuguese guys after the Swan asploded, so I'm perhaps thinking that the island normally exists in some strange alternate universe or whatever, and electromagnetic events can bring it in and out of the "real world." Maybe the mini-electromagnetic incident that caused the plane crash opened some sort of wormhole to the alternate universe of the island, which is why they were there?

I have a feeling there is a lot more theorizing that I can do, but I've got to do homework and indulge the plot bunnies in my head, which are telling me to write grief-fests and a strange man appearing on Soalis Island telling Perrin that he and Keira must return to Arx Chalybs and blow stuff up. No, I am not heavily inspired by Lost. Especially when I try to incorporate references to Lost as much as possible.

dance, lost
