reasons #29193 and #29194 on the "why allison is not brilliant" list:
- she writes mini-biographies for her characters, reads old writing, and reads the amber spyglass while eating nerds when she should be doing her homework
- when she finally does decided to do her homework, she goes to her backpack to get some stuff out and discovers that she doesn't have her biology binder. she has a biochemistry test on monday. this is not good.

1. i need more male characters. the mini-bios were for all my somewhat major characters, and out of the sixteen that i made only four of them are male. perrin is my only really major male character (though solan, aneirin, and thir are important as well). oh, but i'm not counting ekeze in this because i didn't make a bio for him because i don't know his real name yet. so i guess that's five. i have a bunch of borderline-major guy characters, though, so it's not like my writings are completely deprived of testosterone.
2. only three of my major characters appear in all five books. these characters are sari, keira, and perrin.
3. i desperately need to change the name of the citadel of destiny. the cheesiness blinds me. (whilst reading my old writings from the cds that i used to transfer stuff from my old laptop, i came across a lot of "mystic island." it made my brain want to implode.)
4. traveling through the world boundaries really is a fairly common ability. or, more accurately, if i need a character to get to another world, i give them the ability. (with the exception of solan. i just like to torture him like that. and sidra as well, to an extent. she just ends up in thoswodawn because karis has the rare ability to bring people who can't travel from world to world through the world boundaries.)
5. almost half of my somewhat major characters die by murder. hayden and talia are the only characters who die in the books but not by murder.
6. the only characters that i can picture in my head pretty clearly are aneirin and pyra. this is because the adult aneirin looks a lot like obi-wan kenobi in attack of the clones and pyra looks like a darker and twistier version of namine from "kingdom hearts:chain of memories" and "kingdom hearts ii." there are a couple characters, though, for which i have vague mental images (e.g. axelle king of looks like me and talia kind of looks like jamie from my e-block lunch) but i don't often picture them that way.
7. sari has no more speshal powers. she is just as normal as more than half of my other characters are. she is, however, an exception to the rule at one point. when women get married in my stories' universe, they don't take the last name of their husband, and their children have their mother's last name. sari, however, changes her last name to "darkwater" upon marrying perrin. the reason in the story for this is because sari wants to detach herself from her "real" family, so that's why she changes her name. the real reason, though, is because although it was easy enough to rid most of my female characters and their children of their husband/father's last name, i just couldn't have alina and axelle stop being darkwaters. so i kind of bent the rules a little for sari & her kids. (actually, it would have made a lot more sense for sari to change her last name to sparks, since she was practically adopted into leah's and keira's household, but "sari sparks" just sounds weird.)
8. spell check doesn't mark "obi-wan kenobi" as improper spelling. hmm. (i remember from my star wars fanfic-writing days that it doesn't think "darth vader" and "jedi" are wrong, either.)
9. aneirin is almost six months younger than sari. weird.
10. karis and thir have the prize for having living in the most worlds. they've both had residence in three worlds.
11. lots of people move to either soalis island or thoswodawn. they must be awesome places.
12. most of my female characters have blonde hair. i need more brunette girls/women. (you'd think i'd have more brunettes because i have brown hair.)
13. sari, leah, and karis were all born on the 27th day of a month. that must be why they all kick butt.
14. i think TPOL will begin on july 8th (bella's birthday!).
15. the world name "coreon" gives me the warm fuzzies for some reason. maybe because it's similar to coruscant?

i want to find my old, slow laptop and see if i can find some of my old authorfiction and character bios. that would be quite the adventure.
i think i'm going to watch part of revenge of the sith tonight. over the past several weeks i've been trying to watch all the star wars movies in sequence (but not in one sitting - that would take over 12 hours and i don't have anywhere near enough time on my hands to do that). so now i'm up to revenge of the sith. this means i get to spend much of the movie making little "squee" noises, and when i'm not making squee noises i'm being angry about how padme's death was so pathetically handled. (when i watched attack of the clones, i was pretty much cringing during every line that anakin uttered. this situation will be somewhat remedied in revenge of the sith because he's a whole lot more attractive. hayden christensen's voice really annoys me, though. it's rather whiny.)
today's quote of the day is brought to you by the amber spyglass. i don't think i've ever quoted anything from the his dark materials trilogy for the quote of the day before. but that trilogy is basically awesome. especially when i'm eating nerds whilst reading it. oh, and balthamos (the gay angel) reminds me of bartimaeus from the bartimaeus trilogy for some reason.
quote of the day:
"what is the point of this metaphysical speculation?"
