To Anna (and everyone else who knows how she feels)

Anna:

Hmmm... that whole thing was extremely coherent, and it involved more than 3 words strung together to make coherent sentences. In fact, your sentence about not being able to write 3-word-long coherent sentences was a 28 word coherent sentence. I think that you have fallen ill... you see, there is a terrible virus called Junioritis going on right about now. It's a mutated form of the Senioritis bug, and it's highly contagious and virile. So just sit back and breath. Now isn't a time to be falling sick; trust me, I know. But get up. Seriously, right now, get up and go watch TV. Talk to Terra on the phone. Don't think about the paper. You will overthink it so much that your virus will get the best of you, and then you are in big trouble. Trust me, the Great Gatsby paper and I didn't get along so well. It definitely gave me Junioritis; I sat in front of the computer for hours, and even though I knew what I wanted to say, or I thought I knew, I couldn't get anything down. So I cried. For like, 3 days. It was bad. You can go back to what I wrote in my LJ before it was due and you can see I'm telling the truth. So go do something mindless, and come back to the computer in 2 hours, and sit down. You can cry again if you want (I promise you, that's what I did), but *then* force yourself to write. Don't move, just start putting crap down on the screen in front of you, and you'll know it's crap, and so you'll delete it, but make yourself start again. Because eventually you will be able to squeeze something out of your brain that isn't crap. Trust me, I thought I was going to DIE when I couldn't get that paper out, but I finally wrote something, and you know what? I did well. And you're not the only one who is supposed to be good at English; do you honestly think that your favorite writer never sat down and couldn't write? I'm telling you this because I know exactly what you're going through, and I empathize, and I want to help. So go eat some ice cream or something and then come back later. It will be better soon; Junioritis is a curable disease.
