* Spent some time yesterday with my Yuletide fandom and...I have thoughts and ideas of things to do, but no idea which I'll start with. And I had the same thought which always gets me into trouble, time-consuming time: "Hm, I feel like I should research how X works." Nooooo! It also means I'm about to get more behind on pretty much everything else soon.
* Watched the first two episodes of Arrow, which made me so happy, I can't even tell you. Then I found out that I'd actually missed the first 3 episodes and had another one I could watch and...YAY!
* I also somehow ended up with two episodes of PoI backed up, which hasn't happened in a long time. And let me be clear: it's not because I love it any less, I just seem to keep losing time to WATCH ALL THE THINGS.
I liked "Reasonable Doubt," partly because I like the twisty-ness of it. Also, I wonder how Bear's new vet feels about them: on the one hand, saved her life; on the other hand, SHOT A GUY IN HER OFFICE!
I loved, though, "Razgovor."
One of the things I love about PoI is that they will occasionally do your average TV tropes in such a way that rather than being the same old tired or twee thing, they turn it on its head instead. They did that with the introduction of Bear. They did that with a baby episode. And here they do it with another "cute kid" episode.
In most other shows, an episode about Shaw and a little girl would be about making Shaw more human, letting her grow. Instead, we have the effect it should: it just makes her more homicidal.
I loved so much about this and that they didn't flinch away from the fact that Shaw is, in fact, a sociopath. She is one on the side of good--even if it is "just for the dog"--but it's not because she's feeling the moral pull or a need for redemption. I loved the whole flashback sequence with her in the car and the poor rescuer trying to figure out what to do with her at the end. I also loved how the girl explains that it's not that Shaw doesn't have the feelings that other people have, but that they're like a TV with the volume turned down really low.
Other things I loved in these two episodes:
+ CARTER IS THE MOST BADASS PERSON EVER! I loved that she knew what was going down with her "partner" and the whole thing with his gun. I loved that Finch and Reese knew about her side project the whole time (because I would have seriously doubted them if they didn't). And I just love her, so so much.
+ Yes, I cracked up over "Gen" becoming "the ward of a multi-billionaire." Heh.
+ The completely throw-away thing, I don't remember if it's at the beginning of "Reasonable Doubt" or (more likely) "Razgovor," where Shaw is petting Bear, who immediately goes to John when he comes in. That little glare from her, and smug smirk from John is oddly priceless.
+ Root!
* I also caught up on AoSHIELD. I'm feeling like it's finally hit its stride, and I'm quite happy with it.
* Grimm started again. I kind of wish I had held it until next week's second part, but it was good to get the season off with a bang. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the season.
* Very sad to see
