* Caught up on the last two episodes of Arrow:
On, the one hand, I can understand that Tommy has taken the whole my-best-friend-is-back-from-the-dead-wow-he's-a-superhero-using-our-club-as-a-base thing with great aplomb. There has to be a sticking point. On the other, his leaving the club because Ollie doesn't see how he's changed and going back to his dad feels very manufactured, one of those moments that's less organic than a this-needs-to-happen-for-this-plot-reason plot point.
Especially with him using the "I must have my dignity!" as an argument against Ollie then going back to his Dad for a job, considering what his Dad did over his LAST job. It's just odd.
That said, Dig remains overwhelmingly awesome. The female characters continue to be awesome. And, while I enjoy this, I'm starting to get a little weirded out by how many of my shows are giving me OT3s on a silver platter these days. Really, I can't be the only one thinking there were some interesting things going on on that island while Ollie was "training."
* PoI last week.
Yeah, poor Cal. If you weren't crooked, I figured that's how it was going to shake out.
It's always fun to watch Tracie Thoms, so I liked her as the Number of the Week. I ADORED Reese teasing Finch about his crush on her, too.
I'm really happy to see Sam back: I thought she would be, but I didn't think it would be so soon. I liked Reese doing his little stalking routine on her, and her showing up in the Library to confront Finch. I think she adds an interesting dynamic, with both of them.
And they're off until the 25th. ARGH!
* Saw the first episode of Hannibal, which I thought was gruesome and kind of beautiful and just plain interesting, so I'll likely stick around for a while.
* Watched Grimm.
Of course you would have a Ziegevolk be a lawyer! Seems a perfect match. I'd be shocked if there weren't many more.
I loved that they brought Bud into their (rather complicated) quest for the sweat. Yay, undercover!Bud!
I am not sure about Nick having Monroe taking Juliette to the trailer, but not giving him the okay to tell her things. It seemed A) poorly thought out, and B) kinda shitty on Nick's part. I get that he's giving her space, which she has expressed a need for. Giving Monroe the dirty work is not the best way to do this, IMHO.
Oh, and since I was talking to a couple of people who seemed to think their last episode was coming soon: Friday's episode was only number 17. They're coming back in two weeks with 18, and it looks like they've got it planned out for there to be episodes every week until the final episode of the season on May 17.
* It's been an up and down day of media news. I do love
the new image from Captain America: Winter Soldier which just officially started shooting today.
* I have much more mixed feelings about the news
SyFy is going through with a remake of Blake's 7. I want to believe that with that director--and what the channel did with Battlestar Galactica--they could do something dark enough to make this work. However, I'm also not thrilled by
the apparent addition of a dead wife for Blake as motivator. Because, you know, if the movies have taught us nothing else, there's no reason to be motivated to do anything if you don't have a dead wife.
I'm going to guess those "crimes against children" charges are gone, too.
