* Regarding the OTW: I could post about stuff, but I defer to someone who has expressed my feelings better than I can, so I link you to

* I saw three movies this weekend:
1. Immortals. The trailers for it seemed to stress the 300 connection, which makes sense since that's the connection most people would be the most familiar with. I will say, however, that the look of it is not really all that Frank Miller/300-esque, and is really, really indicative of the look of Tarsem Singh's
other movies. Since he was the top reason I wanted to see the movie, that worked out well for me. I actually spent the last half of the film really, really wishing Mr. Singh would do his own version of the Troy-saga, because that would be awesome.
2. Tabloid. I wanted to see it after reading AV Club's
article about the subject of the movie suing Errol Morris. I can see why she was not happy with the finished film, but it's also obvious that she's a whole bucketful of crazy.
feochadn also pointed me towards the fact that she's been posting to everyone reviewing the movie (including the AV Club's article), especially in a positive light, and threatening to sue them all while using random capitalization and referring to herself in the third person (it's supposedly not her, but a supportive third party). INteresting.
3.
The Mill and the Cross.
luminosity mentioned this movie somewhere recently, and I was intrigued enough to want to see it. It's a film-as-the-painting as well as commentary and context of the painting for Pieter Bruegel's
The Way to Calvary. It stars Rutger Hauer as Bruegel, Michael York as his patron, and Charlotte Rampling as Bruegel's wife, who was his model for the Virgin Mary. They're the only three with speaking parts, but the movie really isn't about them. The movie is about composition and context. It's very arty, it's very conceptual, it's a lovely bringing-to-life of a very densely-packed-with-images painting that explains a lot of the symbolism and meaning behind the images.
*
New images from Pixar's next movie, Brave. I'm really intrigued by this one.
*
New poster for Coriolanus.
* New H50 tonight! And I'm actually really kind of looking forward to it.
* Did my noms for Yuletide. I was pleased that when I went in on Friday to do it, someone had already nominated The Fades! So my alternate three were:
Heather Gladney's The Song of Naga Teot
Wild Boys (Australian TV western whose season finale is next week)
Poppy Z. Brite's Lost Souls
* Rec of the Day:
Avengers-movieverse:
Night Out and Morning After--Phil/Clint AND Steve/Tony! The Avengers...indulge.
