If I were clever, this would rhyme, but I'm not so it doesn't
Dear 2004,
You have been the most exciting, depressing and just all around interesting year I have ever experienced. I doubt I will ever encounter another year like yourself. I came in to you literally at the end of a chapter of my life, yet I had no idea how many more you would write for me in 365 days. With your help I made friends and for the first time in my life I lost them. Some I was glad to lose, some I was not, but you helped me deal with it all.
Furthermore, you put me through almost every life cycle event. Birth - I was there, literally, for the birth of little Thomas Jr, now very cute. I was there for Ezra's bris. Jonah had a very exciting Bar Mitzvah. I graduated high school, left Maryland and started college. Marriage is the only event I missed out on, because my uncle's wedding was postponed until the spring. But at least you tried 2004. And 2004, you brought me to the end, to a funeral of a close one.
Yes 2004, you have been an interesting one. I don't think it possible for me to have another year quite like you. Take care, for I will never forget you, 2004.
Sincerely yours,
Asher
