Their revenge for all the hell that they have been through is to live well. Forget what is expected of them and instead enjoy life to the fullest.
The headline reads like something out of a tabloid newspaper, accompanied by grainy, out of focus pictures that were clearly taken whilst the photographer was being jostled back by a bouncer or a bodyguard as Emma and Julio ducked down into the limo after a night out of partying.
It was a new club, Revenge, just opened that evening and they’d gotten themselves a VIP area with private bar and plush seating overlooking the dance floor. Have-bins and wanna-bes vying to catch Emma’s attention and gain access to the roped off area; it doesn’t work though. Not like that at least.
Her ex will be seething but unable to do anything about it by the time the morning newspaper reaches him with his breakfast in whatever hotel he has passed out in this time. Meanwhile Ric’s latest conquest will realise that she was just another nameless notch on the bedpost, a fuck so easily forgotten. His is less about causing pain. Emma’s though? Her revenge is to teach that ex of hers a lesson for that matter, no-one dumps Emma Frost and walks away thinking that they’ve gotten the upper-hand. Least of all some jumped up, money grabbing, egotistical rich boy with an unlimited credit card and not much common sense. Nothing more than eye candy really who just happened to get too big for his boots.
Thing is lately they all seem to think that they can match up to Julio; they see him and how he gets treated by Emma and think that they want that too. Some of them can’t handle the lime light, whilst others get too big for their boots. No matter what happens though Emma always takes Ric back after those boys of summer have gone because he’s the real deal. The designated candy on the arm of the millionairess and the only one who can do no wrong in Emma’s eyes. I mean why else is he allowed to flirt with anyone he chooses whilst they are together yet never gets punished for it.
What they don’t know is that what they share is more than just a bit of fun. He’s a constant in her life, has his own money, own friends and own social circles. He doesn’t ask for anything or take any more than he can give. And every single time she gets rid of another failed relationship she comes back to him.
Others comment and sneer at how they seem incapable of committing to each other. Some gossip mongers question whether secretly they are married or engaged and just put on this front of fooling around but the whispers soon stop when Emma catches wind of them.
Tucking the matchbox from the nightclub in the pocket of Julio’s jacket, Emma smoothes down the material and tilts her head back to receive a light kiss from Ric before he lights a cigarette and steps out onto the balcony of her penthouse suite.
Indeed her revenge is living well, whilst the scum on the bottom of her shoe crawls around the streets beneath her like the cockroaches that they are.
