Where I've been, part 2

Oct 20, 2009 14:22

I pop in and read almost every day, but I just never get around to posting. I have so many things I want to talk about, but hate to post and disappear, post and disappear.

Laura is 22 months old, and every day she learns something new. A lot of the time that's a new way to drive her mama bonkers, but you know, that's probably your prerogative when you're almost two. Most days we drop to sleep exhausted but still say, "You know, she's pretty cool." It's still trade-offs, but I still think we come out so far ahead for having this little girl in our lives. I keep having to step back and accept the new normal, but it's good. The new normal is life with an almost two-year-old who is (if we're being honest) very, very two. Working on finding her place in the world. Gaining her autonomy, testing her limits, learning something new every minute it seems. Could I really have expected anything else from my own child?

We went out to the beach last month, just Laura and me, for a girls' weekend. Had a blast. Still getting sand out of things.

We stay busy. Church, gym, park, playground, friends, music class (we're in Kindermusik! and we love it!), it's just the routine. It's good. Sometimes it's too busy, but mostly it's good.

Come find me on Facebook if you like.

Hope you are all well.
