29 Chimera Court, Wednesday Afternoon

Nov 21, 2007 20:34

Deadpool sat Indian style on the counter, looking at a cookbook carefully. "Should we try to make the pie? Because cookies seem so much easier."
"Pie, yes," Aly said immediately. "It's traditional, and cookies are boring."
"And amazingly I know how to make it," Arashi smirked and starting into the fridge for ingredients. "I vote for pumpkin, because were I come from sweet potatoes don't go in pie."
Wade just stared at him. Only half checking him out as he fished for the ingredients. Okay, three quarters. "What do you do with them then?"
"Kill them for the evil things they are, duh," Aly said. "Can't we have some other kind of pie too? Like apple?"
"We roast them in outdoor leaf piles mostly. It's a very fall sort of food. Or we put them in tempura," he explained and pulled out a bag of apples for Aly. "You want apple you get to make it," he laughed.
Well the tempura sounded kinda yummy, actually. "Does this mean I have to make my own desert too?" Wade asked warily, looking back and forth between Aly and Arashi. "Because we might as well put in an order to J,GoB now if that's the case."
"You can help me make the apple," Aly offered. She smirked up at Wade as she grabbed the apples. "Then when we utterly fail at it, I can tell Josh it's your fault."
"Just so long as I don't end up making both pies," Arashi laughed and got his own supplies together. "So are we having only dessert?"
"Well I do have the stuff for deep frying a turkey," Wade replied, hopping down from the counter. "Except for the turkey, of course. But I think I can make mashed potatoes without poisoning anyone." Hopefully.
"I think we can organise a turkey," Aly said. "And we need cranberry sauce. And beans. And, ahhh, parsnips."
"What is this holiday about anyways?" Arashi asked. "Food?"
Wade shrugged. "I'm Canadian."
"You have Thanksgiving in Canada, Wade," Aly argued. "It's about celebrating the harvest and the successful of production of food for the coming winter." She paused. "And something about pilgrims. Just don't ask Josh tomorrow please, he'll go on for a year."
"Dare I ask?" Arashi joked, and got his pie filling together. "Is there anything we need beside pie?" He paused. "That was a stupid question wasn't it?"
Why yes, that was Wade giving Arashi a snuggly hug from behind. "Yeah. But don't you worry, we love ya anyway."
Aly laughed and threw an apple at Wade's head. "Snuggling on your own time! Cooking now!" She eyed the recipe in front of her. "So...what's lard?"
"Uh... you don't want to know," he said pulling away from Wade and pulling out out a container of shortening from the cupboard for her. "Use this, it's the same thing only not disgusting."
Wade mouthed the words 'animal fat', but... mask. "Has anyone actually made one of these that tastes good?"
"I've...helped?" she tried, eyeing Wade. "And come on, Arashi taught a whole class on pies. He has to have made at least one."
"I made a couple of them," he grinned. "But I used pre made pie crust everytime."
Wade nodded sagely at her. "See? I think we need to make a few, just to taste so we know we got it right."
"That is an excellent idea," she smirked back at him. "How else will we know what the best one is? We can make a pumpkin and an apple and a cherry ooh, and chocolate!"
"And quiche!" He joked.
Wade grinned, picking up an apple and tossing it in the air-- "A custard too!" -- and catching it again to begin peeling.
"Ooh and a cake! A mocha cake with excellent frosting," she said happily. "We don't need anything else."
Arashi laughed. "Do we have enough counter space?"
"We can always eat what doesn't fit," Wade said, being utterly reasonable about it as he tried to peel the apple in one strip.
"We need to anyway," Aly pointed out. "To tell if they're any good. So if we don't make extras, we won't have enough." She poured a bunch of flour into the bowl, getting it on her face in the process.
"I'm not cleaning all of this back up in the end." he laughed and focused on his own pie.
Wade stuck his tongue out at him. Yes, through the mask. and sliced up the apple to toss in a bowl. Apple toss! Catch! Peeeeeeel! "This is kinda fun! My mom used to make this kind of stuff when I was a kid and I always thought it looked like way too much work."
"My brother and I used to help the cooks," Aly said, squishing the flour and shortening. "It's not that hard." Probably because the pies they made were replaced with ones that weren't made by children.
"No, it's not," Arashi agreed, but it was still a lot of work. "But, I'm just going to be making my one pie."
"Because you're not fun at all!" Wade teased, going for another apple. "How many of these do we need?"
"Uhhh," Aly poked at the book. "Two or three? Maybe just start chopping them up until the pie is full. Then we have butter, and, um, sugar. Lots."
"And Cinnamon!" Arashi grinned. "I can't be apple pie without that." In his opinion at least.
Wade sighed happily. "Mmm, cinnamon. We get to try all these before tomorrow, right? Because I'm working up an appetite."
"Isn't that the point of making so many they won't fit on the counter?" Aly asked, sticking her tongue out as she decided she'd try to roll out one crust.
"How many people are coming over?" Arashi asked casually as he kneaded the pie crust in his hands.
"Well us..." Wade paused, mid slice. "Nate because he's going to be social and not try to recruit people for one day, damn it. Josh. Huh... Who else?"
"Fraser," Aly said instantly, poking at the weird crumbs falling all over. "And Robin too to up our Canadian count."
At the mentioning of Fraser and Nate, Arashi grew quiet. He wasn't going to be annoyed or threatened by this. Nope, not at all.
"They're my favorite Canadian couple since Alanis and that handsome devil from that pizza place show," Wade said, nudging Arashi with his foot. Because an unhappy ninja was bad all around.
Aly raised an eyebrow at Arashi's reaction. "...or not."
"What?" Arashi laughed and put on a smile. "So Robin and Fraser are dating? That's great!" And a huge weight off of him, that left only Nate to deal with.
Wade still didn't get why Arashi was so worried about it. It wasn't like he was interested in guys. Guys who weren't Arashi. "You need to listen to radio more," Wade chastised.
"Seriously," Aly agreed, eyeing the pie crust with a bit of worry. She didn't think it was supposed to be quite so...fally aparty. "It's been at least three weeks."
"Well I've been away for a week," he laughed. "And before that I was sick and I think before that I was kidnapped," he explained in his defense.
Wade rolled his eyes. "Excuses, excuses!"
Aly had been counting back in her head. "Oh! No, no, it must have been over a month." "Anyway..." she eyed the pie crust which had made it into the pan but was decidedly...odd. "Do you have those apples, Wade?"
"Okay, then I'm just lame and don't listen to radio much," he smirked and started in on the filling for his pie. "You guys should make a mountian of apples in it."
There was a small pile of apples ready, but Wade was busy poking the crust with his knife. "Is it supposed to be that color?"
Aly slapped at his hand. "It's a natural colour! It's not blue or anything."
"What color?" Arashi asked curiously trying to look around them at the pie.
"I think it moved!" Wade shot back, rubbing his hand.
"It didn't move!" Aly argued, moving to show the crust to Arashi. "And it's just brown?"
Arashi smirked and lightly elbowed Wade. "It's fine and it'll stop biting once you bake it," he teased.
Wade pouted. "Well, from my vast experience that came from that one time I taught your pie class, I'm pretty darn sure it's not supposed to look like that."
Aly glared. The handful of flour thrown at Wade's face might have been a clue to her displeasure.
Wade gasped and tossed a handful of sliced apples at her. "It's alive! The pie liiiiiives!"
Arashi jumped back as things were starting to be thrown. It didn't bode well. With a grin, he backed away and ninja'ed himself and his pie filling to finish mixing it in the living room.
Half a crust of pie dough was thrown at Arashi's head as he ran away like a girl escaped wisely before Aly turned to tackle Wade, intent on rubbing flour into his costume.
"Oh, it's on!" Wade grabbed another handful of apples to try and shove down Aly's shirt. Because that's just what you did. And because food fights were awesome. [[OOC: Establishy, NFI and pre-played with the fabulous tricksy_spy and konoha_flash]]
