Okay, so only some of the people were future-zapped, which meant that he really might still be here, and let's see if she still remembered which office was his. This was after the school blew up, so it was right over ... there.
Rikku leaned against the doorframe with a smile. "Deadpool."
The grin that burst out threatened to crack her face open. "You got it," she laughed. "You know, if you were anybody else, I'd have hugged you by now."
She had stopped most of the bouncing, over the years, but she was still an expert at tackleglomping. Even if the tackleglompee was sitting and watching trashy TV.
"It's so good to see you," she said, with a squeeze.
Snagging a hold on the desk to keep from tipping back in his chair, Deadpool smiled and patted her with his free hand. "You too, kiddo." It was nice to see she didn't try that drinking herself to death thing again.
"Oh, man." Rikku gave another squeeze before letting go, dragging a chair close and perching on it. "I was gonna ask what you've been up to? But apparently some of us are back and some of us aren't and I've got no idea if you're here for the reunion or not."
"Not too much, then," she smiled. "I grew up. Well, I got older, at least. And I've been doing all sorts of interesting things, except I took a few years off for the kids and now I'm going stir-crazy. I need to shoot something. Good sign that it's time to go back."
"Kids," she repeated with a soft smile. "Two of them. I thought it wasn't fair of them to have a mom who bounced around doing odd jobs, at least not while they were in diapers, so I settled down. I think I got domesticated. I'm plotting a hostile takeover of the PTA."
"I was just gonna exploit the seething underbelly of distrust that's already there," she said. "I mean, most of the parents are weirdly paranoid and don't like each other, in random little sections and cliques? You could drop a few words about Mrs. Henderson to Mrs. Winters, and mention something juicy to that old crusty secretary about Mrs. Henderson, and seriously. I think I could start civil unrest and anarchy with, like, five conversations, and no one would know it was me."
"Possibly. He was my boss for a while, it'd be hard to imagine I didn't get any of his influence in there." She grinned. "But I run around beating things up most of the time. I don't think that's him."
Rikku leaned against the doorframe with a smile. "Deadpool."
