I totally forgot to mention this, but I may be in trouble, garden-wise.
I decided, on a whim, to plant my beans and peas at the same time as my
tomatoes and other nice garden things.
The cucumbers are coming along, as are one of the tomato plants. So far so good.
I mentioned in
my last garden update that one of my snap peas had germinated. Well, while I was gone, some of the other beans germinated and began to sprout happily. They were a couple of inches high, which made my garden-mummy heart feel all sorts of happy warm fuzzy feelings.
I glanced over at them today, and suddenly not only have the Scarlet Runner Beans sprouted they are OVER A FOOT TALL.
O_O
Uh, oops? Now I have to find some (much) larger containers for them.
I am worried about my other seeds. The Lee Valley self-watering containers appear to be keeping the earth very wet, and I'm afraid the seeds will just rot in there.
Experienced gardeners, should I leave them be, or should I empty the water and let them dry out a bit? I don't want to lose my entire crop before I've even started...
