I just realized that apart from one errand I'm going to run with a friend Saturday morning, I have the whole entire weekend to myself. That hasn't happened to me since... *checks agenda* July, or thereabouts

What do you do to put your garden to bed for the winter?

Mostly I cut back plants, rake the leaves off the path, put away tools (and this year the garden furniture), and spread mulch over the beds. Nothing fancy.

How do you know when it's time to cut back the plants? Which ones do you cut back? Do you cut back your perennials?

Good idea to put away the tools. I don't have to do much with the garden furniture this year - I never took the tarp off them this summer o_0

I cut back some of the perennials, but not all. Depends which ones, and how long I've left it. ;)
