Happy Memorial Day

May 28, 2007 09:31

Today is a day to remember all veterans of foreign wars who have passed on. My father was a WWII vet, and I remember him every day, but today I will think about the contribution he and the other young men of his generation made not just to our country, but the world. They truly were "The Greatest Generation". I ask that everyone, regardless of ( Read more... )

I'm using Corel paint Shop Pro X.

Cool, that's what I'm using too. Did that link I gave you work for you?

Would you like me to make you a mini tutorial with screen shots showing how to do that?

Oh, I'd love to! I think this effect is very beutiful, too bad, I can't do it. Your help with screen shots would be very useful!

No problem. I set up a webpage for you. This is the url. PSP tutorials I kind of got carried away and did some other stuff as well as the image fade, LOL. I've had someone helping me learn LJ, and it's my joy to help you with PSP. I think the best way to honor someone who's shown you a kindness is to do kindness for others. Kinda like that movie, Pay it Forward. btw, I hope I didn't get too basic in that first tut (tutorial). It's hard to judge someone else's skill level, and I thought it better to be too basic than to assume too much. I hope I didn't insult your skills! I just remember when I started out, I didn't know ANYTHING! But based on what I've seen of your art, you already know a lot more than I did when I started.

I don't read slash stories, it's just not my cup (or cop :-D) of tea.

Hee! That's cool, diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks. I'm very accepting of different tastes and preferences.

Let me know if you have any questions about that tut.

Great! I can make transparent images now!
Thank you very kindly for your help, your tut is so good and easy!

I practiced a little bit and I made this: http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/5627/frasertw3.jpg. tommorow I'll try to make a collage, using the new technique.

Yes, it's like a circle, it also reminds me of Pay it Forward. I remember, some months ago I taught some of my LJ friend how to work in Movie Maker. :-)

The link is working, so I'll, probably learn some moe effects.

Thank you so much again! :-*

You're welcome, I'm glad it was a help to you. :)

Cool! I'd love to see any of your results.

Now, that is something I have never even tried to do. I love vids, but I haven't the vaguest idea of how to do it, and really, I don't want to try - I don't think I'd be very good at it, and the last thing I need is another fannish demand on my time! LOL. I think I'll stick to watching vids.

What kinds of effects are you going for in your collages? Is there any other technique I could help you with? This teaching thing is kind of fun...

Thank you so much again! :-*

You're quite welcome. My name is Leah, btw.

O.K, here is the collage I made today - http://users.livejournal.com/_scally/172506.html?mode=reply and I'd rather not say how much time it took. :-))

It's not that difficult, but I should admit making video clips is a very time-consuming.

>What kinds of effects are you going for in your collages?

For example, feathering a Selection and blending image seems to be very interesting techniques.

Good to know your name. My name is Katerina (Catherine in English). ;-)

LOL. That, the time issue, will get better. Just takes practice. The collage is very, very nice! Your choice of images makes it very powerful. I love that shot of Ray, the way it's lit and shot is so dramatic. You definitely have an eye for composition. Thank you so much for dedicating it to me, that was very sweet! I can see you aren't going to need too much instruction from me, as everything I've seen from you so far is so much better than my first walls - they were pretty darn awful.

For example, feathering a Selection and blending image seems to be very interesting techniques.

Ah, yes blending. I love blended walls, but they are tricky. I'm not the best at blending, but I do know the techniques (or at least A technique, LOL) and every once in a while one of my blended ones comes out okay. I added a tut on feathered selections and blending for you. it's here . Lesson 2. I hope it helps.

That's lovely! It's nice to know your name too.

I hope so. :-)

I'm glad you liked the collage. I watched the Deal recently and I really wanted to make something concerning this episode.
Making a composition is the most difficult job about the collages ar wallpapers, I might say.

Oh, one more lesson! Cool! I should try to blend something right now. Gosh, I love fanart! :-)
