Teh Coolest Thing
So right I eluded that something was going to happen the other day and it did
So right the other night my friend Mary asks me if I want to help out on Extreme Makeover Home Edition
I was all excited and was like sure what day...and she said Saturday
and then I was disappointed...I was scheduled to work for the Premiere Series Event that we had going on at the theater
So Friday comes around and me and Mary are hanging out and she keeps saying Christen I wish you could come.....and I did to...so her mom is like why don't you call up work and ask off
one problem though I didn't have the number...when I switched back to my old phone...when my phone was doing some weird stuff...the number didn't transfer....so yea I was like hey mary you want to go with me to work and ask in person
so I get there and my boss isn't there...now typing this out it seems like everything was against me...but then Jana was like I'll talk to her and I'll call you when she gets out of her meeting but I think there's a pretty good chance that we can do that for you
I was like what ever works for me...if she just could let me leave early or anything really I would take what I could get
so yea I then get a call saying that I have it off I was like THANK YOU JANA AND THANK YOU KHARIS!
so Saturday
we go to Mary's tennis match which was away...and suprisingly enough didn't last its usual 3 1/2 hours that Mary's matches tend to last...her mom is always done before her though lol
so we had time so we went back to her house and got everything ready
signed away our lives... (we had to sign a waiver)
packed the car
stopped off to get some disposable cameras (we didn't want to take our digitals on to a construction site) and then stopped off at her dorm and then we headed to this place
now this neighborhood is like on a mountain and OMG the roads are so twisty and steep... it was scary...it was a bit like a rollar coaster you know when you go up the big hill and you reach the top but can't see the track below you...yea we went REALLY slow if there wasn't a car behind us
so yea that night we got up to the house really quick from the sign in area...they gave us SHIRTS and hard hats
once we got up there wasn't much to do...then they had us take down food/water to the workers inside the house
after that was done...we waited some more at the tent
(the way it worked was they would call for so many volunteers and then once it was done you would go back to the tent and wait again to be called)
Then we moved lumber to the back deck...actually the second deck...this house has like a 2 story deck
...I mean if you watched the show
The houses are always cool
but newho
we continued with moving the lumber and then we moved out the trash/scraps from the house
and then once they were piled up we eventually had to move them to the dumpster later on
so yea we did that for awhile...and then ate when they provided food and OMG did they provide food....there was tons
at about 11 we were getting tired and so we went back to the dorm...we got to keep our shirts but they wouldn't let us keep our hardhats
Sunday
at about 10:30 we got back there the next day and it took FOREVER to get back up the mountains but we met some nice people
so yea we moved trash and lumber and all sorts of stuff then we got asked to help out in bin city which is where they keep all merchandise that they put in the house...so we took off tags and put things together so when they get ready to move in the stuff its ready to be used
We worked with a woman named Rachel who actually goes out and shops for all that stuff it made me jealous
OHH forgot the best part...so we had lunch right so this guy Andy sat with us and the Police/Fire/EMT guys to find out he works with the production company so yea...that was cool...and he was cute...and we got a picture with him
We saw Paul and Michael (members of the design team) when we were walking back from bin city
And then we were standing around with the EMT people and they were joking around all that...and we got a picture with the cute one...I think his name was Daniel...so yea
We tried to keep our hard hats again...b/c they were letting people keep them if you got signatures by the designers or anyone...but since we didn't get any of those...I signed both our hats...to make it look like we got them done...so if someone kept those hats after us...they'll think they got them signed by someone famous but really it was me...lol I know disappointing right
it was all in all FUN and exciting...Not sure if I'm going to be on TV though...they had 2 stationary cameras on the house at all times...and then we did see people walking around with cameras at various points of the day
but the show airs MARCH 4TH ON ABC
Me and my friend like dorks we are will be watching it and be squeeing *OMG we helped on that or we took the tags of that or we put that together* lol...and were going to have it recorded and then we'll go thru that frame by frame to see if we can see ourselves

it was really neat...and all for a good cause too! I'm going to try and go back...but we're still trying to figure out with school/work all when I can go...I want to go Wednesday when they move in everything...I just hope I can do it
