Well, first I'd like to say that I am sorry for the previous post. I was very angry at the time and therefore was not exactly thinking the straightest. I was mostly just venting to get the frustration off my chest.
I exaggerated. A lot. I'm sure there's plenty of people at school who don't dis Christianity. I mean, I hear people say "Gah, that's so gay," every day at least.
My real frusteration is really not the fault of the people at school, though. They don't really know even what Christianity is, as Flaed said in her comment. Really, the conversation I had with Flaed via comments was much more intelligent than the actual post.
As quoted from comments:
Flaed:Of course. . .some of this is Christianity's own fault. . .what with Pat Robertson and Jack Chick and all running around being incredibly vocal. And no matter how many times people come out and publicly condemn them, the damage is already done. (And then there's stuff like the Judgment Houses. . . .)
Mouself: <.> Why, oh, why is it always the idiots who get all the attention?!
Flaed: The idiots are loud. ~_~ Because the smart people are the ones who notice all the stuff about not going out and praying really loudly in public, and thus are, by necessity, not loud.
Mouself: Yeeeeeessss. I wish someone would stand somewhere and tell everyone what Christianity really means. Not just what all those hypocritical GOD-HATES-GAYS YOU'RE-ALL-GOING-TO-HELL-ALLOW-ME-TO-LAUGH-AT-YOUR-ETERNAL-MISERY-YOU-AWFUL-PERSON idjits scream constantly.
Contrary to popular belief, Christians are not just middle-class, white people who sit around listening to classical music and hymns, trying to convert everyone within a five mile radius, and making lists of why homosexual people are going to hell.
Flaed: Yes. >.> Meet the
Gospel of Fred; it's new. >.> Because, of course, Christians know the eternal state of everyone's soul. Of course. We can see into everyone. We're special like that.
Don't even get me started on the hypocrisy of that Gospel of Fred site...
As for Erebus's comment, the reply to which LiveJournal apparently thought was too long, I could definitely see the amount my emotions had influenced the post. I already said that I exaggerated a lot, so that hardly need to be resaid. Also, I apologize for making my case out to be that of the uttermost persecution and that all other sects and religions get nothing. When I'm angry, I get extremely cynical and unwilling to listen to reason.
The defense of Darth deals with what I mentioned earlier about the self-righteous twits claiming to be Christians, as well as a difference in interpreting words.
If I may quote:
evangelical - adj. Characterized by ardent or crusading enthusiasm; zealous.
Just for the record, the definition Erebus gave in his comment was the sixth definition of "evangelical" on dictionary.com. The first is "of, relating to, or in accordance with the Christian gospel, especially one of the four gospel books of the New Testament." This really has no significance, but it is there. I realize that Darth was speaking of the given definition, though there are flaws in that one as well.
There's a difference between
evangelical and
fanatic. I feel the need to note this difference.
Christians should be evangelical, meaning their beliefs should not collapse under pressure. Wet noodle Christians = bad. On the other hand, Christians should not be fanatic. Homicidal Christians = worse.
Also, there's the misconception that Christians are trying to convert people. Here's the thing: Christians cannot convert people. It doesn't matter what anyone tells you; Christians can do nothing in an of themselves. They are not better than anyone, they are not luckier than anyone. Period. Any Christian who comes off as a self-righteous twit either is misunderstood, or misunderstands what he/she is talking about, as the entire basis of Christianity is a) humans are stupid and can't do anything to save themselves, and b) God is gracious enough to give His Son to fix everything we humans messed up.
Finally,
this website is a good example of Christian vs. Insane Person debate.
And that was your religious Mouself-blurb for the day. Hopefully this one was more reasonable than the first.
This is Mouself, signing off.
EDIT:
I changed the "Real Christian vs. Psuedo-Christian" part. Because, as I am not omniscient, I do not know if the first person really is a Christian. Plus, the other guy is pretty much certifiably insane. o.o;;;
