The last most recent all out war with my parents occurred when they were coming up to visit Buffalo and after 5 hours in the car driving they called me to say they were two hours out ask me if I knew whether the hotel they are staying at took dogs.

I was like, "Nnnnoooo I do not know, why would I know this."

And they said, "Well, if you must stand on principle WE can call and ask."

And I was like, "Perchance this contemplated phonecall should have been undertaken BEFORE YOU LEFT."

And they said, "Well if they won't take her you can just have her at your place."

And I said, "NO, IN FACT NO I CANNOT. I have my three, plus a foster dog, plus a ginormous black lab I am babysitting for the holiday weekend which is a menace at the end of a the leash so a sixth would really be a bit much."

And they said, "How are we supposed to know you have extra dogs?"

And I said, "I DON'T KNOW, MAYBE BY ASKING ME ABOUT DOGSITTING FOR YOU IN ADVANCE."

They then wondered aloud why we couldn't just communicate.

Also, in entirely unrelated news, I was thinking of you today because I was wondering: sic placitum = "it is thus decreed," yes? And is that what Caesar kept writing in his accounts of the Gallic wars? There was some shit to that effect he kept repeating over and over.

And additionally I was thinking of you yesterday randomly recalling while driving around the time in the Common Ground where I said, "Yeeah, her personality could use a little tweaking." No idea why that popped into my head or even who we were discussing.
