Niamh's Story, part One

(Stepping away from my normal storytelling mode for a minute to let Niamh you about her life after she left home)

Wants and Needs.

Bio: Niamh had fairly normal upbringing and though all her siblings have different fathers, she never felt unloved. But during her teens Niamh was haunted by bad luck and had many more downs than ups, culminating with a major breakdown when she at her birthday turned adult without having attended college.

She left her family home shortly after that.

New.

Here, now.

Think about what you need and what you want, mum had said.

I need a house. And a way to get fresh food. Fruit, vegetables and fish - healthy stuff.

The air is good here.

Strange to think that this small seed will one day grow into a big tomato plant.

Wants and needs.

I might not need to get fit, but I have a want for it.

Those people in the welcome wagon gave me such a fright.

It took them a long time to understand that I didn't want to talk.

So that's how that feels.

I have no want to get a job and luckily I don't need to.

At least not right now.

Is this really only my first morning?

A want.

A step towards the big one.

I promise I'll look after her well.

I've already rolled a want to be friends with her.

And with him.

My Anemone. So tiny and full of life.

I try to be nice but I do have to be strict to teach her how to behave.

Now I can get more new clothes, and another puppy.

Brush. This one is male.

I hope they will become friends.

A want... and a need?

Midnight fishing with The Earthy ladies. They call me their new little sister.

New want; date with Vince. I'll lock it for later.

But I don't want to buy a double bed yet.

They ripened so fast, and turned out mouthwateringly tasty.

My beautiful Anemone grew up.

Her and Brush are firm friends.

I bought a grill so I can cook outdoors when the weather is nice.

Vince agreed to come over for a date.

I told him about my single bed. He said he understood.

I keep forgetting to sell that dreamcatcher at midnight.

Haven't had nightmares since I moved in so I think I'll keep it.

I still don't want a job but there is no money for the dogs' food so I'll sell some of the fish in my inventory.

Taught Anemone to shake. Not a need but a want. We both enjoyed it.

First crop turned out a bit bland but they'll do well enough in my spaghetti Bolognese tonight.

Brush became adult.

It was easy to persuade him and Anemone to try for puppy.

A few days later there was happy news.

I have decided to name my dogs alphabetically so these three are: Clematis, Daphne and Elderflower.

Anemone and Brush went straight out to the doghouse to try for puppy again.

Vince always has time to come over when I call. We must be rolling the same wants.

I have three bolts for him.

Seeing Vince and my dogs have fun together makes me so happy.

Clematis, Daphne and Elderflower grew into fine dogs.

There are too many big dogs in the house now so I sold the triplets to the Earthy Ladies.

I named Anemone's newest puppy Flora.

Anemone and Brush went out to try for puppy again.

The Earthy Ladies came over one day to appraise my cooking.

To my great relief they all liked it.

I was overjoyed when Anemone yet again had three puppies.

I named them Gherkin, Hibiscus and Iris.

Anemone got pregnant straightaway again.

Flora grew up and I sold her to the Earthy Ladies.

Gherkin, Hibiscus and Iris followed suit a few days later and were also sold to the Earthy Ladies.

Anemone gave birth to a single puppy, Juniper.

My Anemone will be turning old soon but agreed to go and try for puppy with Brush one last time.

I have a lot of fish in my inventory now and with all the money I have made from selling Anemone and Brush's offspring I now have over 3.000 Simoleons in the bank.

My life is very comfortable.

I realise I feel so different now from when I first moved in here.

My difficult teens are well and truly behind me.
