September had better hurry. I'm going to DIE if this humidity keeps up.
I had a girl ask today about my "It's complicated" Facebook status and ask for my phone number. That was rather unique. It looks like I may have a knitting partner some time. :)
I should have learned by now to never get my hopes up, but I got my hopes up with the possibility of being a graduate TA for a class that's actually cool...and then it turns out that not only am I not assigned to that class, but I'm assigned to TWO different classes, neither of which I want.
I had two classes today. One was a computer science database course which apparently doesn't deal too much with the technical details -- a lot of ISYE people take the class, it seems, and there were an unusually large number of girls for a CS class, I think. (it's even more fun for high-level ECE courses...for some of the 4000-level ones I've been in you'll have like 0-3 girls in a 20-40 person class)
The second class was a graduate-level intro to systems and controls class. It's apparently going to be a bunch of formal, theoretical math involving linear systems, complex numbers, matrix multiplication, etc. It may require some review for me to remember a lot of the stuff, and it'll probably be quite hard...but it's like, I could choose to have the attitude "this class will suck and I will hate it" or the attitude "abstract math can be kinda fun/interesting, even if it's just a mental exercise, and there are apparently practical applications too, and this can be a challenge". I think I'll go with the latter one if possible, unless I magically find (checking tonight) another grad course to take this semester.
I left some origami around campus.
I saw some of Happy Gilmore (I think that's the name) while eating lunch. I hadn't seen the Gilmore vs. Bob Barker match before. XD
THE PRICE IS WRONG
I played some DDR in the campus rec center and got told I looked quite old (or a good bit older comparatively) by an Asian freshman girl watching DDR. But hey, I take their free food, games, and such anyway. :^P
I saw a couple of people I recognized today. I almost always overanalyze things, but I think one of them (a friend of mine) never seems as glad to see me as she used to be. She was one of the very few people who used to be like "JOSH! :D *random hug in dining hall*"
An Indian girl was playing lively music on the piano downstairs. It was nice to see. I rather doubt that room will be empty much anymore, but hopefully it will be some...I think I will check tonight to see if I can play piano.
