The wake....

Nov 15, 2005 19:16

So I went to Ted'd wake tonight. It was hard to be there and see all of his family so bravel trying to keep a strong face. Even harder waas to look into the coffin and see the smiling face, one that had numerous times fed me and taken me into his home, knowing that that face would never light up again and that after tmorrow the smile I beheld would be gone...forever I think the other thing that caused me to nearly die was seeing the size of the tunor in his brain. it was so sever you could see a large lump on his head. It was hard to see and think about what that man went through and imagine the pain he was in for so long. I saw Mr. Mac and his wife, talked to Ted's son and told him to call me anytime he needed a friend to talk to, and did my best to be there for his family. I just cant believe the man who was so kind to me without ever having really known me, could really be gone. Whereever you are tonight Ted, please know that I'm thinking of you and I am thankfull for all the generosity you have showed me, I will never forget you...

For those of you who responded to my last entry if you google Ted Mackorell the entire first 2 pages (for the most part) are about him but just in case I did find a clip about him from a newspaper.

"The ASU Mountaineers for Christ are holding an American Red Cross Blood Drive at Boone Church of Christ on Saturday, November 6th from 12:30 - 5:00 pm. This blood drive is in honor of Ted Mackorell who is an ASU alumnus and owner of Makoto’s Seafood and Steakhouse of Japan. Boone Church of Christ is located 2 miles east of Boone on Old Hwy 421 at the entrance of Eastridge Acres. Please call 828.262.3798 to make an appointment or call the Watauga Chapter of the American Red Cross at 828.264.8226 with any questions."

My own take on "Ted" Mackorell:

James Theodore "Ted" Mackorell Jr. was the son of my Scoutmaster James T. Mackorell Sr. or Mr. Mac as we all call him. He is a fellow Eagle Scout who attended Appalachian State University. His father was a father to me and in return Ted was my brother. Ted still holds the ASU record in mens soccer for most career saves as a goalie. He had a wife and 3 children and was the owner of Makoto's Japanese Steak House here in Boone. He spent the last few years of his life battling massive brain tumors that just could not be stopped no matter how many surgeries and treatments he went through. He was an incredible man with a wonderful heart who loved people and life more than almost anyone you will encounter in this life time. A few months ago he was told he was clear of cancer only to have it return with a vengeance. He was then informed he had four months to live...he never made it to the 4th month... Ted died Monday morning at 10:30am. His last words were to his loving wife telling her it was time to go, he then passed on to a better life. He's no longer in pain now, like he was in the last few days of his life, and he is now able to soar free above the clouds like the true Eagle that he is. Ted was a good man and he will never be forgotten for the struggles he went through along with the Joy and Love that he gave to the world and allwho knew him. Thank You Ted for always being there for anyone in there time of need and always showing the world your love. Heaven has now recieved one incredible Angel and the world has lost one of its finest men. WE LOVE YOU!

And for those of you still reading please continue to keep Alan Teitleman in your thoughts and prayers. Please God just let it be a horrific virusand please let him live! I LOVE YOU ALAN!

To You Ted I dedicate the current song on my mind, and I promise to sing it for you later tonight when I am in my room.
