So I ordered a wireless router this morning. It is a recerted one, so I hope it works. There was a rebate on it, but the website lied because the rebate expired two days ago. Blah. Oh well. I hope it works.
We walked into town today - Megan, my roommate, and me. It was fun. It’s about a 10 minute walk there and a 25 minute walk back because it’s downhill there and uphill the way back and we’re still adjusting to altitude so we’re out of shape. The town of Idyllwild is really cute. It is definitely very artsy. There are lots of just…..artsy….type shops. But I guess some of it, too, is tourist stuff, since apparently a lot of rich people have weekend/summer homes up here. All the people in town are really friendly though. They all knew that we were new there, and asked where we were from. We told them we were from Astrocamp and they all of course knew what that was (or had some idea, at least). We went to the local bank and started bank accounts so we have somewhere to put our money when we get it.
At night we went to see Lord of the Rings at the local theater. The theater is really cute. It’s run by two sisters and has always been, as far as anyone knows. The tickets are kinda expensive, but it’s a really cute small theater. It only plays one movie at a time. This week was Lord of the Rings. Next week is that movie with that guy who is dating that girl and then ends up dating his mother or whatever. It’s in the theaters right now. I don’t know the name of it. But yeah. The theater was cute =). I really wish I had a digital camera, cuz there are soooo many shots that would be absolutely awesome, but I don’t, so I guess I just have to borrow everyone else’s.
Oh yeah. After we went into town we had some time before dinner so me and Megan walked some trails and then sat around the “house” putting some decorations up and such. We ended up talking about gay/lesbian issues and the topic in general, and I’m happy because she said that she has lots of friends that are gay/lesbians and she has no problem with that. She is very much the “well, it’s not the way I choose to live but if other people are like that then I have no problem with it” which is cool by me. We actually ended up talking about that stuff for like half an hour to forty-five minutes, probably. And she’s a camp person, too, so it’s fun. We trade camp stories. Everyone here is camp people. We all trade stories. It’s so much fun! =) But it’s 11 now so I guess it’s time for bed again. Tomorrow we get to meet all the returning staff. I guess this’ll give me a better perspective for how the new people feel at camp though. I’ve forgotten how that feels. Until later….
