Ok, so today is our first day of kids at Astrocamp! Wohoo! I'm excited. I hate training. There's soooo much talking and sitting still and downtime and blah. ADDness. I am teaching 6th graders from a Jewish school today until wednesday. It'll be interesting. They separate their groups up by sex (which can always be interesting when you're a girl teaching a boys group or a boy teaching a girls group...) AND we have to eat kosher until they leave, so no meat for anyone. That'll be especially interesting. But we'll see how it goes. I get to teach almost all of my favorite classes and none of the ones that i especially don't like so it's all good =)
ALSO, thursday we went on our staff trip that we do every year. Usually it's a science-related trip, but this year we went to.....THE PRICE IS RIGHT!!
We took a group of like 28 people from our staff (it was optional and only the instructors and ad staff went -- not the kitchen staff or maintenance staff) and we all wore our purple (yes...purple) staff shirts. We got there at 10:30 in the morning because you have to line up to get interviewed. They only take the first 300 some people, but if you're in a group and you call ahead you're guaranteed to at least get to be in the audience for the show. They still interview everyone anyway to see if you "have what it takes" to be a contestant. I didn't want to be a contestant, but it was interesting to go through the process.
If any of you guys have ever watched the Price is Right, the audience for the show is actually really small. It looks a lot bigger when you watch it on TV. One of my bosses -- Jennifer Hunstock -- got to be on contestants row. When they called her name the cameras were all on the area where my group was sitting, so I don't know. If you watch on November 15th when it airs, maybe you'll get a glimpse of me on tv =) I don't know. I was sitting two seats over in the row in front of me, so there's a fair possibility. I wasn't exactly watching the cameras at the time, I was too busy cheering. =) But that was a fun day even though it meant being in LA in the unbreathable air and sitting around for a REEEEEAAAALLLY long time.
But now it's over and we have kids. Yea. funness. =)
And now it is breakfast time. Yum. I'm hungry.
Kara -- if you read this and you DON'T check your email, or if I sent my ecard to the wrong one, HAPPY 25TH BIRTHDAY!!! =) You're getting old. hahaha. I love you.
For anyone else who reads this who had any inclination to call me anytime recently -- my phone is broken. It's not on. Therefore I can't make calls and can't receive calls. It'll hopefully be fixed in a week or so. Take care all!!
